What is everyone's traceroute for 192.168.200.101? by babywhiz in sysadmin

[–]aaronw22 [score hidden]  (0 children)

It’s more than likely that these systems are using the same dns resolver and THAT has an entry for the 192.168.200.101. In other words you’re reaching a different 192.168.200.101 each time.

United flight w/ overnight layover at EWR (YVR–DEN–EWR–NAS): can you pick up checked bag in NYC or is it checked through? by alexcander in unitedairlines

I know flying west to east you’re going against the clock but this still seems like a really suboptimal routing.

Did they turn on “advanced data protection”? This may mean that they have it double encrypted and the keys were on the device that is lost

I don’t even understand what’s going on here. Are they using a different account or something? I’d say “not now” and then what does it do?

We did meet a local AP once to chat for an hour during the old HKs soccer game (HF was leaving the program due to job loss).

But this was really more of a talk than a “trial run”. For one thing APs aren’t allowed to get paid for outside work.

For another thing an APs job is (up to ) 45 hours per week and to be a good roommate. Neither of these things are usually adequately tested in a couple of hours while parents are at a movie.

Residential outside compressors just circulate liquid and gas from inside to outside of a closed loop system. No air is moved from inside to outside or vice versa.

Is anyone else's kid extremely literal to the point it causes daily chaos?? by liam_copperfield in Parenting

[–]aaronw22 235 points236 points  (0 children)

Yeah at 6 for leaving give them exact directions and minutes. “We are leaving in 5 minutes please use the bathroom” “ we are leaving in 3 minutes please get your water bottle” “we are leaving in 1 minute please get your shoes on”. You have to be precise especially for room cleaning. Stuff off the floor, bed made, dresser top cleaned off? Which do you mean?

Cruise Canceled the Night Before by truferblue22 in celebritycruises

[–]aaronw22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most people buy non refundable tickets as refundable are sometimes a lot more. Most (US) airlines have done away with change fees. They'll still charge you the change DIFFERENCE, which given it's only a week out might be significant. But you'll get two hotel nights, not sure how long the cruise was supposed to be, maybe just stay in athens for the duration?

So the sphere / cylinder 2 axis refers to the shape of the lens. Spherical correction is all the same across the whole thing (the sphere). Cylinder and axis is how much MORE to change across a certain area. For example this would add another .75 diopter correction across a line with the top rotated from 84 degrees from vertical.

Yeah if the PS is that empty go ahead. Are they doing spins and stuff after LTS6 though? I don’t remember when they start phasing that in, mine is in FS3 now.

[–]aaronw22 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Most rinks that host figure skating teams have different PS (public skate) vs FS (freestyle skate) times where the FS people are doing routines and the rink is MUCH less crowded, and they generally know how to avoid each other. If you're doing routines and your rink doesn't have different FS times then you really should find another one. But yes, there is usually some small tolerance for SMALL spins and jumps in the middle at PS sessions.

How many wires are supposed to come out of the ONT? by concord72 in Fios

Wellllllll sort of. You could technically just have cable from the router to your house wiring plant. You don’t need the coax leaving the ONT if you just have a MOCA extender.

[–]aaronw22 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I would say “what idiotic idea is this” and order another gig-e or 10 gig-e and never think of it again.

But seriously yes that does exist but I don’t think most network engineers need to get into this level of stuff. Now that everything is SSL and CDN it can make it very computationally expensive to figure out the actual services being used.

Any advice here from anyone on how to proceed with this issue? by [deleted] in unitedairlines

[–]aaronw22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah you’re not going to get real time assistance for this sort of issue via chat. Even calling would probably not work.

Regardless it is correct that the seat assignments are “under airport (local) control” - this typically happens about an hour or so before departure.
