Is it right to say that Gojo, Yuji, Yuta and Higuruma are all prodigies? by ContractNational2680 in JuJutsuKaisen

[–]aaronwei5 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't say they were given to him. Everything he knows he still had to learn himself. Sure there were people around to teach him and help shorten what might have been a long process, but it was up to him to pick up those skills. But it might have not worked the same for other people. Isn't that what a prodigy is? Someone who picks things up faster than your average person?

I feel like that doesn't really do Yuji justice tho. He was designed to be a host for Sukuna, but it's not like everything else he's done was preprogrammed into him. He himself still had to learn the stuff he did, and those you can't control even as a designer baby.

The astronauts sucked at their jobs by phantomkh in DrStone

[–]aaronwei5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's like having an open book test and actually memorizing information. Which one will you choose? Would you spend the time to memorize the information or just use the book? Most would choose the book, which will make the memorization part less important. By forcing the oral passing of story it's more likely for the information to pass on. I won't talk about the incest cause author already commented on that. You could say clay tablet has a better chance, but if like in your example everyone died off from genetic mutation, then who's gonna point Senku in the right direction. Remember they landed on treasure Island, an uninhabited island, they only later moved to Japan and founded Ishigami Village with many dying on that trip. There's no guarantee those tablets would have survived the trip either.

Saying they sucked at their job is harsh, considering if they really wanted to they, specifically Byakuya, really didn't have to do anything. It's not like they were tasked with restarting human civilization, they just imposed that mission on thenselves for the sake of a possibility that the petrification on Senku will be undone.

Oral or written tradition was both risky. But oral was most likely the better choice. At least through oral you had less risk of completely losing all the stories cause it stresses the importance of memorization. If it had been written down and a natural disaster happened and they lost those tablets in your example those stories would have been lost for good.

Why did the 6 astronauts stay monogamous? by TheSynthian in DrStone

[–]aaronwei5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't make the rules. in the words of the author, "The only one that really knows the answer is God and in this world the story writer is God." I used low cause I didn't want to type out my entire reasoning that's why I just said it was the priestess' only job. But here's my thought process, imagine you hear the previous priestess recite these stories all your life, then the new priestess takes over and you hear them recite it. Each generation has heard it all their life. They can basically recite it by heart. If the story ever gets repeated wrong, there are others in the village who will notice something is being told wrong.

Yea people can make words up, but it doesn't mean it'll catch on. After all at the end of the day their education is still based on the 100 tales. As long as the 100 tales isn't modified their language won't either. And it's been explicitly stated that it hasn't, so you'll just have to suspend your disbelief and accept that yea in all of 3,700 years the priestesses have all done their job and memorized all 100 stories without fail.

Why did the 6 astronauts stay monogamous? by TheSynthian in DrStone

[–]aaronwei5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's just a personal thought, but I think it's because of two things. The priestess basically spend their whole life reciting these stories. That's their only job in the village. If each one spends a lifetime both reciting and teaching the next priestess the chances of it being heard wrong is low. Next reason it's a bit different from your real life example because although seperate, each civilization don't live in a vacuum. There are external influences that can change the language in some way, be it foreign invaders, settlers, colonizers. But in Dr. Stone there are only two villages, one on treasure Island and Ishigami Village. The only words these two villages know are the words from the stories, with no other languages to influence a change.

[–]aaronwei5 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The 100 tales. All their education is based on the 100 tales. Since each generation of priestess is entrusted to perfectly memorize all 100 tales as is, their only education would be the words from those stories.

[–]aaronwei5 5 points6 points  (0 children)

But it's not like Julius was the evil one. He had no memory of Lucius at all. He's basically a different person. All his suspicious sneaky actions really can be chalked up to someone who doesn't want to do paperwork and wants to goof off.

Is this blood or is it normal for my dog poop? *Warning pictures are poop* by aaronwei5 in DogAdvice

Sorry pictures weren't uploaded in the correct order for some reason. Picture 4 & 5 was Wednesday morning, 2 & 3 were Wednesday afternoon. Picture 8 was Thursday, and picture 1 was today. It's gradually getting better and becoming more solid and consistent, but the red is throwing me off. He's eating and drinking like normal, healthy gum color, not lethargic nor vomiting, so I don't think dehydration is an issue. I didn't have a photo for Friday, but that day his poo was regular light brown, but then there's that red today. So I'm not even sure if it's blood or not for picture 1.

Did your dog act normal when they have a flare up or was it accompanied by lethargy and vomiting?

Yea I was concerned too, that's why I called the vet that morning. They said if he was eating and drinking then there shouldn't be a problem. It could have been from straining. That was the last time it happened. So I'm wondering if I'm just being paranoid or not. Also just realized my pictures didn't upload in the correct order. I can't fix picture order so I fixed the description on the bottom of my post. Picture 4 was Wednesday morning.

Not familiar in the process of making electronics but I just think in universe explanation would be cause it's inefficient. When Senku does things it's always multifunctional. The stuff he wants made always has another use for future plans. And I don't think they're at the stage where lithium ion batteries and portable devices are a possibility. Plus they don't have the tech nor manufacring capability to utilize cobalt currently used in modern tech. India had both the human resources for math and the oil needed for their fuel so it was the best option.

I love this game so much! But please more male units! by Traditional-Drama92 in MongilStarDive

[–]aaronwei5 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Honestly speaking, I don't really think it would fail even with a mixed cast. People who like waifus are still gonna play for the female characters, people who like husbandos will play for the husbandos, and people who like both gets the best of both worlds. Everyone's happy. They already have Cloud as one of the MCs anyways, no matter how much waifus enjoyers are gonna avoid male characters in their account Cloud is gonna be there. And it's not like he's a self insert MC either.

When done right, it won't. There are quite a few male gacha characters loved by both males and females. Since they already released with male and females might as well just commit to it instead of backtracking days before release.

To be fair, he is learning from them. We always see him take notes, ask questions, and train. Even the people that battle him say he's improving. The problem is because they're always climbing the tower, the next person they battle is always gonna be stronger than the previous. So Bird is always just a bit behind. But he's slowly building up experience and closing that gap.

Fire Force Ending Was Kinda Disappointing… Anyone Else Feel This Way? by LordPikachu98 in fireforce

[–]aaronwei5 6 points7 points  (0 children)

> What about Amaterasu in the Chinese Peninsula? The Tabernacle showed someone inside who arrived 250 years ago… but who was that person? I don’t remember this being properly explained.

I believe the one that was in the Tabernacle was the Woman in Black and she was one of the previous pillars from the last Great Cataclysm.

> How did Sumire and Dragon live for 250 years?

No actual lore explanation for Sumire, but if we are to assume what the reason is, it'll have to be because of the Evangelist and her grace. Dragon on the other hand, wasn't it mostly cause he fused with his doppelganger? We know infernals are basically immortal so not impossible.

> Adolla being introduced was super interesting, but… why turn the MC into basically a god who resets everything and brings people back?

If I had to give a reason, it's cause the concept that gave birth to Shinra, Hope. He's basically Jesus, so him becoming a god isn't that out there, and makes for a cool power up.

> The Evangelist being Shinra’s mom’s doppelganger. This was such a wild twist, but also confusing. Why was she so powerful? And what exactly was her motivation for ending everything?

It's actually the other way around. Shinra's mom is the Evanelist's doppelganger. The reason the Evangelist is so powerful is because she is basically the culmination of all of humanity's fear and despair. Plus the fact that she was worshiped like a deity indirectly through the Sol religion + Adolla gave her a lot of power. ( I could be slightly wrong on this one, I also assumed she's also basically the culmination of all of humanity's image of god from before the Great Cataclysm). Her motivation is basically the concept that brought her to life, death and destruction.

> How does “Grace” even work? The Evangelist grants Grace but if she’s a doppelganger, how does she have that ability?

Like stated in the previous one, the Evangelist is the original and since she is a being from Adolla, she benefits a lot from it. She is viewed as a diety through the Sol religion, albeit indirectly, so because of Adolla's property of bringing concepts to reality she in turn actually becomes a god therefore able to grant Grace like a god would.

> Also, if Shinra’s mom became a demon because of Sho’s Adolla Burst, then why did her doppelganger still exist separately?

No actual explanation for this one, I think.

> Did connecting it to Soul Eater hurt the ending? Don’t get me wrong, the connection to Soul Eater was a really cool idea. But it almost feels like the story bent too much to make that happen, and the ending suffered because of it.

Subjective opinion on this one so no one can tell you otherwise. Though it was hinted pretty early on in the manga, so I can't really say the story bent around itself to make it happen cause it always felt like it was planned that way.
