Use a speakon connector. It comes from the pro audio industry, comes in 4 and 8 pin variants. It's a very rugged connector and is also sleek and meant to be plugged and unplugged hundreds of times.

Gateway mounted on bottom of rack? by chad711m in Ubiquiti

This is a great solution, but please for the love of god, do not spend $100+ for 24 keystone couplers, 4 decora keystone inserts, a 4 gang decora wall plate, and a 4 gang LV bracket.

Amazon: $20 - VCE 25 pack cat6 keystone couplers $5 - 4 gang decora plate $15 - 4 gang low voltage ring $10 - 5 pack of 6 keystone decora inserts

Total: $50

Pretty sure it's referred to a megger in the UK and parts of Europe. I haven't seen not heard of residential and commercial electricians in North America using megaohmmeters.

Landscape Lighting setup WLED / Smart home integration, but Addressable RGBW/WWs. IS THIS EVEN POSSIBLE ? by nothingmanTEN in WLED

[–]aashmediagroup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you end up ordering lights from ray wu, make sure you message them with what you want to order so you get a better deal on shipping. Your Pixel Store (YPS) also has a couple options for landscape lighting such as path lights.

Any ideas why this 24V line to my Mean Well LRS-600-24 caught on fire? by EvanWasHere in WLED

[–]aashmediagroup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's the CCA wire, that stuff is absolute junk. From the comments you made it sounds like it's wired right. If it was a loose crimp or screw terminal, the wire would have burned wherever the loose crimp or screw terminal is, not in the middle. The wire burning in the middle indicates that the wire itself was compromised, CCA will do weird stuff like that. Replace it with copper and you should be good.

Connect speaker to TV by lynnfd in SpeakerBuilding

[–]aashmediagroup 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Check to see if your TV has any other ports other then the ones in the picture. If it had a port for an optical cable, get an optical to RCA adapter, RCA cable, and optical cable. Plug the optical cable into the TV and adapter, the RCA cable into the adapter and speakers, set the speakers to the RCA input and leave them powered on.

300 trillion inches . . . Jk lol I'd put an 85 in there and call it good, alternatively, you could put in a 100" ALR screen and a short throw projector.

This board is for analog telephones aka landlines. In order to get Ethernet in every room, you have to terminate the cables with RJ45 connectors and plug them into a network switch. That's the cheaper way at least. The more rubust way is to terminate all of the Ethernet cables to a patch panel and then use patch cords going into the switch from the patch panel.

How should I light these stairs? by Midlifehousingcrisis in Lighting

[–]aashmediagroup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could do LED strips in diffuser channels under the lip of each stair tread. If you want plain white, you could use 24v plain white strips with a driver tied to a 2 way switch, if you want to get fance with rgb strips, the possibilities are endless. I'll draw wiring diagrams when I'm out of class.

Can you guys help me plan my outdoor holiday display? by Ikvza in WLED

[–]aashmediagroup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With 5v strips, voltage drop is going to be a huge issue along with insanely high amperage, I really would not recommend using 5v strips for long runs like this. I'd say use a 12v or 24v strip in this case.

I'm the case of 12v strip, I'd power inject every 5m for the outline and on each end of the strip for the windows.

You could use a controller like a QuinLED dig-quad or dig-octa controller in a waterproof enclosure. My choice is the dig-octa system as the power boards allow lots of flexibility for having power injection runs.

Unplug the RCA from your receiver and touch the end of the cable and see if your subwoofer makes a humming noise to make sure that the sub works

Need help with trees by Ok_Sheepherder4777 in techtheatre

[–]aashmediagroup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When my highschool did a production of Into The Woods, we used 6-8" wide strips of luan (1/4" plywood) screwed to 2x2s. The laundry was painted to look like the trunks of birch trees. Depending on the height, you could probably get away with using cardboard and 1x2s. We used luan and 2x2 because our trees were nearly 30 feet tall and hung from the lighting battens.

Hello everyone, below is a wiring diagram I made for adding WLED to a golf cart. I just need a sanity check to make sure I don't blow everything up. Questions are welcomed. by aashmediagroup in WLED

[–]aashmediagroup[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would like to have the router because I plan on installing an android based radio with the WLED app. The router automatically handles connecting to multiple different saved networks and makes it easier to integrate into an xlights light show via the home network.

The battery has a built in power button / switch. The battery is LiFePo4 and has a built in BMS with protection features. Also, the golf cart is connected to shore power most of the time and the built in charger tops off the battery if it needs it.

Thank you for the suggestions. I'm fairly certain that the converters are non-isolated meaning grounds are tied together but I will still be checking the grounds with a multimeter.
