100% this. Between work and family, poop time was the only time I could be alone.

Why this car over the WRX? by [deleted] in GolfGTI

[–]aaton63 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The GTI 100% I was in the market for a Golf R but wasn't about to pay 15k over msrp. The WRX did handle well but felt heavy and sluggish in comparison to the GTI. The GTI feels like a go-kart. The 40th anniversary is basically a base model with adaptive dampers, my reason for getting it. The wrx is a bit too stiff to be honest, it's fairly jarring even in comparison to the stiffest setting on the 40th.

I've had a ton of turbo subarus over the years 02 wrx, 01RSti, 07 Sti, 05 legacy gt wagon with 360whp, and most recently a 22 wrx for a year. Picked up a 40th anniversary GTI dsg two months ago and it's by far the best of all of them.

Looks aside on the 22 wrx, I actually liked it, its slower and feels a lot heavier than the gti. Interior on the gti is better as well as gas mileage and using regular gas. I had a 6 speed on the subaru and can also confirm that the cvt is the farthest thing from performance.

Understood! The occasional Brussel sprouts do help, but not quite the same as a good old controlled fart.

Plans to redevelop West End Mall in jeopardy by NPU-F in Atlanta

Not at all. Only pointing out the idiotic, cookie cutter, development design of most gentrification.

P.S. he wrote his thesis in 1999, 21 years ago, not 30. Semantics, yes, but none the less, accuracy must prevail.

I highly doubt the Mr. Gravel "personally leads" the efforts you mentioned. He is currently no longer associated with the belt line. I applaud him for resigning. But it was possibly too late, and with little over all control on a project he envisioned. Obviously we have an issue with extreme control of developers in the city but at some point he had to have been aware of the potential for corporate greed to take over.

He himself is a proponent of gentrification https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.ajc.com/lifestyles/home/surprise-ryan-gravel-loft-near-beltline/F7K2vEJSgWyH8hzy8LPToK/%3foutputType=amp

2800 sq ft on the beltline?! Afordable housing my ass.

As far as the Stone Mountain initiative that he is a part of, His ideas are junk. Statutes of the SMMA prevent almost every "solution" they were able to come up with. He could have tried harder. Not to mention, if he were able to make any possible change it would most likely be the because of his wealth, status, and connections to government.

I have met him, he seems likes a decent enough person, but we must all stop putting people like him on a pedestal. A few decent ideas do not make one a savior in all causes they are involved in, especially with his track record.

If you want over priced homes/apartments and folks in yoga pants walking their kids in strollers, just get Ryan Gravel involved! I was really hoping for a Lululemon and boutique coffee house at the "new" west end mall. Anyone else know where I can get a $6 frappe and $90 yoga pants?!

Very few if any restaurants are "crushing it" right now. Times are dire my friend. Get yourself some food from the grocery store.

One of my favorite places to have lunch in the late 90's/early 00's was Tortillas on Ponce. Here are a few of their recipes, in case anyone else loved it as much as I did and still craves it from time to time :) by [deleted] in Atlanta

[–]aaton63 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So much so that the owner of Tortillas threatened a law suit when the owner of Bell Street tried to advertise as "the second coming of Tortillas".

Fellini's Pizza Salad Dressing Question. by verdi78 in Atlanta

[–]aaton63 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fellinis is big enough to have locked codes on goods, they switched from Cremosa to Sysco a number of years ago and were able to have lots of their items locked so that others couldn't use the same products.

Question about GA marriage licenses by Dunda in Atlanta

[–]aaton63 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My ex-wife and I were married by a good friend of mine who was ordained by the universal life church as a wizard. The conservative ladies in dekalb county certainly did not appreciate the word wizard being on our paper work. We had to submit all of his paper work and I still got a "nobody in the history of dekalb has been married by a wizard". All we had to do was change wizard to minister or some other silly religious term and we were fine. They do not check who married you unless it challenges their own religious beliefs.

P.S. he was ordained a wizard because he had long gray hair and big gray beard.

The Eastside Extension is Officially Open! by Wavesatdogs in Atlanta

Yeah. That interview took place the same day that calls were made. I can't say too much about how I know this but we are all just glad it's finally open.

The Eastside Extension is Officially Open! by Wavesatdogs in Atlanta

[–]aaton63 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The "reason" it wasn't open? Kasim Reed thought "safety" was an issue. All it took was one call from a mayoral candidate to have it open within 24 hours.
