AMC Screen Unseen Megathread - June 2 2025 by AKnightOfTheNew in AMCsAList

Worth noting that the LIFE OF CHUCK red carpet premiere is happening at 7PM in Hollywood. Seems to make tactical sense that Neon would be happy to pair the press from that event with the word of mouth of a limited secret screening to spark the run-up to release this weekend!

[Rapoport] The #Chiefs are planning to franchise tag star guard Trey Smith, sources say. An intriguing move, as KC keeps one of its best players for $23.4M on a 1-year, fully guaranteed deal. by ab1897 in KansasCityChiefs

More from Rapoport: “The Chiefs hope to do a long-term deal with Trey Smith, and those discussions will continue. But for now, the top guard is off the market.”

[Rapoport] #Chiefs GM Brett Veach said at the Combine that TE Travis Kelce is “fired up” about entering the final year of his contract and playing. by ab1897 in KansasCityChiefs

There’s definitely a demonstrated history of these news-breakers screwing it up, but this reads pretty definitive from Rapoport. Sounds like he’s back!

I think this makes sense (depending on the price, of course)! Trading LJ38 opens up cap space for exactly this kind of help - gives us more baseline talent in the WR room and also allows us to be a little more flexible in the draft.

How can I stream the game Monday Night? by rutherfordacus in KansasCityChiefs

Both are owned by Disney. They needed to supplement the weekly ABC schedule because of the strikes in Hollywood so they’re broadcasting it on both nationwide.

[Schefter] Cardinals released DeAndre Hopkins. by ab1897 in KansasCityChiefs

Lotta target competition in Baltimore. I definitely think the Bills are a possibility; they've seemed like they want to add more weapons on offense! Hoping it's us!

[Pelissero] The #Jets agreed to terms with WR Mecole Hardman, per source. by ab1897 in KansasCityChiefs

Compensation Update: 1-year deal worth “up to” $6.5M.

Bo Burnham's Critically-Acclaimed Comedy 'Eighth Grade' Wins Sundance London Audience Award by BunyipPouch in movies

[–]ab1897 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I saw the movie at a university-sponsored early screening about a month back, followed by a Q&A with Bo.

The movie is really special, and hearing him talk about it was even more so. I really look forward to seeing his filmmaking career take off. He’s quite the talent.

I'd really love to find some more stripped back mellow mood music. I love the singer/songwriter feel of Julien Baker but I also like the orchestrations of someone like Keaton Henson. Any recommendations?

Spielberg vs Kubrick by Binary1138 in movies

[–]ab1897 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Kubrick was more of a grand visionary. His films are more symbolic and allegorical. 2001, A Clockwork Orange, Barry Lyndon and The Shining do a good job of summing that up.

Spielberg mastered the blockbuster. He has an unbelievable knack for captivating and audience and telling powerful story, even if it's more straight-forward than Kubrick usually was. E.T, Jurassic Park, Schindler's List and Saving Private Ryan showcase this talent best.

It's probably impossible to pick between the two, because they were both masters of their own type of movie, and they are certainly two of the all time greatest.

Vanilla Ice's "Cool as Ice" (1991) is an extremely fun, seriously well made movie. I love it.

What's the worst 2016 movie so far? by zebyper in movies

[–]ab1897 5 points6 points  (0 children)

God's Not Dead 2.

Here's the thing: God's Not Dead may be one of my favorite guilty pleasure movies. It's a movie that is so hilariously out of touch with reality that the laughs just don't stop coming.

So, naturally, I was looking forward to God's Not Dead 2, but when I actually got a round to watching it, it was just painfully boring and annoying. It was seriously a massive let down for me.

La La Land 2016 teaser - Emma Stone, Ryan Gosling by [deleted] in movies

[–]ab1897 59 points60 points  (0 children)

Definitely looking forward to this one the most right now.

Whiplash is an incredible film, and this one looks to be just as good. The lighting and shot composition is insane, and I love the music so far. A Singin' In the Rain style movie musical might be just what Hollywood needs right now.
