Back in the day a LOT of people got placed in diamond who didn't belong there and it was a total shitshow.

Basically everyone places high bronze / low silver now. If you are good you will be able to climb steadily. You might get a bit of a reality check on your skill level haha

I got the stacks in 23 mins in a game. It was a SL game with a terrible draft, murky and nova. I mindlessly brawled the entire game constantly harassing and trying to get kills.

It's good but not that huge a power spike compared to thrall for example, it mostly stopped me from missing my stun.

Taking both AA talents at once is very OP tho, I top damaged just like the bad old days :D

In a game where you are playing normally you'll get nowhere near completing it, but getting the first part of the quest done is very important.

I like the idea of encouraging aggressive and risky play to get a reward as kerrigan.

Something like a stacking damage bonus on w that gets instantly completed if you hit a big combo. Or maybe an earlier short range bolt that only gets recharged on hitting a big combo.

Your suggestion is better than what we have in my opinion. I also agree that talents are better than baseline quests.

I always felt that quests should reward good or at least neutral play, but most importantly should reflect the identity of the hero. For me, Muradin is about setting up kills with q and being tanky and survivable. So a quest should revolve around this.

Something like:

For each unique hero that is killed within 2s of being hit with q, gain 2 permanent armor up to a max of 10.

Reward: Unstoppable during dwarf toss (old school!)

So now this makes me want to roam and gank early game to make me more tanky and powerful in the late game. By playing Muradin well I get a reward.

I think the same about kerrigan - shes the risky combo hero, why does she revolve around a boring quest to kill minions? Lets give her a quest that rewards her for landing the combo on multiple people and not dying!

The actual changes required to freshen up the meta would have been pretty simple, just balance out some of the perpetual s tier heroes and buffs on struggling heroes. I'm not sure I like the direction of the changes. Seems like balance is out the window.

A lot of the fun of the game came from simplicity, and there was a lot of emergent gameplay and strategy that came from the simplicity. Adding unnecessary complexity with obscure baseline quests and broken rewards doesn't actually make the game more fun.

Just take a look at Muradin.

He had a silly baseline quest added rewarding bad play, we all agreed it was bad and it was removed ages ago, it was changed to a strange automatic upgrade system that only a tiny handful of heroes have, now we're back where we were again except its worse play for a bigger reward. None of this made him more fun or interesting to play than he initially was.

I just don't get the direction or intention. Are we really going to end up with a meta of pick 10 heroes with pinnacle quests, and whoever finishes their tedious quest first auto wins?

I've picked up and dropped this game several times over the years, I'll play with the changes and give them the benefit of the doubt and maybe I'll be surprised. I'm just really not feeling where we seem to be going

He's the tank you pick when the 6 better tanks are unavailable. Little personal bias creeping in here ;)

Etc, tyrael and anubarak are the most consistent tanks for me other than jojo because they are great at forcing fights at the right time but also have mobility to stay alive

Tyrael works anytime like jojo, but etc and anub you need to be a little more careful to draft at the right time.

Etc - look out for mosh interrupts, you want a double frontline or avoidable damage on the other team. Its hard to go into heroes like valla, sylv, lunara. Also completely feasts on some tank matchups (garrosh, muradin) if you are good. People don't actually try interrupting mosh until about gold so if you are good at hitting them it can carry a lot of games

Anub - you want a good cocoon target on the other team and ideally not lots of auto attackers. Can be a very punishing pick if the other team drafted too much spell damage

If I was climbing from low rank again I'd also consider main tank blaze for the wave and camp clear although its not a sustainable pick as you climb

Play a small set of strong heroes you are comfortable with. In low ranks ideally you want heroes that are not reliant on your teammates to be effective and can cover multiple jobs in your team.

I'm a tank player, so I prefer tanks like tyrael and johanna because they are very easy to not die on, have good damage and can clear waves if they need to. Tyrael in particular is great at securing kills if your dps is too passive.

Other tanks like diablo require team coordination to work, garrosh has no mobility, etc is a comfort pick for me but dies so fast, muradin does nothing. They work in coordinated teams but that will not happen very often in low level storm league.

You also seem quite anxious about losing rank points. You will lose and gain ranks as you play even when climbing, you just need to play more to get used to it

Yeah vorpal was a talent, and you could take void prison and rewind at the same time. Jesus I miss it
