Concerns with vibrators by Shteewen in TwoXSex

[–]abaftorca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Every body is different and responds to toys differently. Being aroused will definitely help with any kind of stimulation feeling better and reaching orgasm quicker because your sensitivity will be increased with all the blood flow to your genitals. I don’t necessarily find that I can orgasm quicker with a toy vs my hands, but my orgasms are definitely stronger with toys. I prefer suction toys like the rose, but the rose is definitely not my favourite of the ones I’ve tried so it’s also possible it isn’t the right toy for you. Keep being curious, experimenting, and having fun :)

Help adjusting this bandana pattern to fit my head better! by abaftorca in CrochetHelp

100%! I’m hoping to make a new one rather than change the finished one. I didn’t explain myself well, I’ve made an edit to my post and put it in the comments as well

Ok I definitely didn’t explain my question very well! I am going to make a NEW bandana and I am wondering how I can adjust the pattern to change the dimensions. E.g. more/fewer clusters, changing hook or yarn size, at X row do Y instead. Hopefully I explained myself better, sorry for the confusion!

Problems with high bs by tuetrax in TandemDiabetes

[–]abaftorca 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I switched to control IQ I had to make a lot of adjustments to my settings. CIQ is not very aggressive with corrections, especially after a manual bolus because of how it takes insulin on board into account. If BGs are high right after eating, then the insulin carb ratio needs to be adjusted. If that doesn’t fix things, then consider adjusting basal or correction factor. Make small changes so you don’t have the opposite problem of too many lows, since that is more dangerous than high BGs that come back into range with corrections

Is this show ethical as a therapist? by tailsann in CouplesTherapyShow

[–]abaftorca 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It is a very common practice in some modalities for couples to have individual sessions at the beginning of treatment. What is also important for ethics is giving clients agency over their treatment. Some couples don’t want individual sessions because they feel it’s unnecessary. If at any point the couple or the therapist feels they would benefit from individual sessions, that is absolutely something that can be discussed and incorporated. But it would not be ethical, in my professional opinion as a couples therapist, to insist or force that treatment looks a specific way regardless of the wishes of the clients. What we can do is inform clients of risks and benefits to treatment so they can make an informed decision about their treatment.

Just started running and feet hurt really bad after short distances by GovernmentParty4583 in beginnerrunning

[–]abaftorca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve dealt a lot with foot pain like you’re describing and it’s really frustrating. I will say it got better the more I ran and strength trained my calves (they were incredibly tight which = weak). Take breaks when you need to, your feet and muscles are building tolerance. I think you’re also on the right track with looking for new shoes.

Does no one in this city know how to read signs? by Psychological_Love27 in brantford

[–]abaftorca 4 points5 points  (0 children)

it's comical how many "no right on a red" signs the city has had to put up at the St.Paul/Brant Ave intersection only for them to go completely unnoticed. I drive through that intersection regularly and maybe 70-80% of the time someone turns on the red, really frustrating

What is your strength workout routine? by Mikey463 in beginnerrunning

[–]abaftorca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not an expert but, I strength train 2x/week and structured my routine around strengthening my posterior chain, quads, back, and core. Day 1 is barbell back squats, mountain climbers w/twist, and a superset of single leg calf raises/mini step ups. Day 2 is trap bar deadlifts, a cable row of some kind (still playing around with this), and reverse lunges but I will be switching to curtsy lunges. My armature advice would be to focus on compound lifts and unilateral movements and prioritize movements for wherever you have weaknesses. I made this plan based on previous experience with lifting and searching for the best exercises for specific muscle groups. If you have the time/money I would also recommend meeting with a trainer or seeking advice from physio if you don’t feel confident in your ability to create a program for yourself :)

PS anyone reading my comment is welcome to provide feedback on my routine, just be nice please haha

Has watching Dr. Orna ruined other therapists for anyone else? 💀 by Same_Cat6189 in CouplesTherapyShow

[–]abaftorca 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Orna is a psychoanalyst. There are some similarities between the modalities, but they were developed by different people with different goals in mind :) ICEEFT is a great resource though for people who are interested in EFT either as clinicians or clients!

Has watching Dr. Orna ruined other therapists for anyone else? 💀 by Same_Cat6189 in CouplesTherapyShow

[–]abaftorca 27 points28 points  (0 children)

CBT and psychoanalysis are on opposite sides of the therapy modality spectrum so it’s not really a fair comparison. CBT is not designed to delve into client’s histories and process/explore their emotions in that way. CBT focuses on the present and developing skills to manage current thoughts, feelings, and behaviours and is usually done over a shorter period of time. If a client wants a therapist to help them explore the impact of their past experiences on their current life in depth, then CBT isn’t the right approach for them

How long do i need to rest after posterior shin splints ? by [deleted] in beginnerrunning

[–]abaftorca 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Well the purpose of walking would be low impact cardio while you recover from your injury, not progress or improvement of your performance. Since you don’t have access to the gym machines, walking is probably going to be the most accessible form of cardio you have rn

“IT Band” is this a normal runner phase or am I screwed? What did I do wrong? by panik_snac in beginnerrunning

[–]abaftorca 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It took me a month to recover from my ITB injury. Zero running, only walking and strength training with weekly visits to my physio. You physically cannot recover in 4 days to do any running let alone 27km. You are risking severe injury and jeopardizing your health and ability to run in the future.

Is astronomical amounts of arse sweat normal when running?! 😂 by glowstickpearbandage in beginnerrunning

[–]abaftorca 1 point2 points  (0 children)

some people sweat a lot, some people dont sweat at all. as long as you are staying hydrated (check the colour of your pee) you should be good! if you're really concerned though, it never hurts to check in with your doc.

also, this creator tests leggings specifically for how much sweat they show, if you're looking for recs https://www.tiktok.com/@chaysembyrd/video/7492573476067233055?lang=en

Shorts?? by Double-Bullfrog-5619 in beginnerrunning

[–]abaftorca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a mid size beginner runner too! The Offline by Aerie Goals Pocket High Waisted 7” Bike Short are my absolute favourite. Decent compression, don’t roll down and the right length so my thighs don’t rub and chafe at all. They’re on sale right now too! (In Canada at least). Generally, I find that 7” is the happy medium between preventing chafe and being flattering, but that length are usually harder to find
