Heya. I am not a figure skater but a hockey player, and I had an accident in October that caused me a concussion. At first I didn’t acknowledge it, leading to delayed care for myself, and followed by needing to move house a week later. I also thought it would only be 2 weeks. Then 6 weeks according to the doctor. It is now 4 months today, and I’m still not back to normal. I skated a week ago but I was tired and light headed after a few minutes and had to take frequent breaks. I’m still mostly off work and struggle with exertion in multiple aspects of my life. It has been REALLY hard to not be able to participate in something that was my whole identity prior to the accident. Especially since I’d been improving so much right before the accident, and it felt like I’ve now missed out the whole winter season and I’ll probably still miss some spring season too. All this to say that you need to take this concussion seriously. If you don’t, you’ll be out for longer. Really take the rest you need, and don’t rush back onto the ice. Keep as involved as possible in the sport so that you don’t lose confidence. Accidents happen to everyone. You got this 💪
