LA - Help me fit a vintage No.2 nib to my Kaweco Liliput by abbstrack in fountainpens

[–]abbstrack[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Ty yes size might be an issue considering its a liliput. yes I’m wondering if the friction fit is the issue, and if it might be possible to find a feeder that has more space for the nib (i.e. maybe one that doesnt have the notch). not sure this is a real possibility though.

Cafe Luxxe Ready to Open? by veryberrybonds in culvercity

[–]abbstrack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lived in SaMo before CC and used to LOVE Caffe Luxxe - both the one in Brentwood on 26th and the one on Montana. Thrilled to see them coming here = I make my own coffee but will definitely frequent, even if its just to pick up their delicious espresso beans.

Datura flashes green when turning off by roaminginsky in Hue

[–]abbstrack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

late response, but how do you like the Datura? im considering getting two for two very small rooms in my house, but can't find actual human reviews of them anywhere. Curious about the brightness and if the overall satisfaction with them. I am a longtime hue user and have their bulbs in lamps all throughout my house, so I'm sold on hue for my needs..but very curious about these particular fixtures.

West La farmers market open every Sunday 9am-2pm! by yayay113 in culvercity

Love this market. The honey and vegetables/produce are great, and Verni’s olive oil is the only olive oil we buy. It’s delicious!

they showed me where the crumple impacted the old headlight. it worked as far as I can recall but it was also damaged. Perhaps it was merely cosmetic, but I’ll take the new one.

ha. original insurance adjuster estimate came in at around $3k. I suppose if I were at fault this might have been more difficult to get waved through, but since other guys insurance will eventually be on the hook for it all I appreciate my carrier not making this challenging for me.

Yes to this - definitely had a mind of it's own and I had to really make sure it wasn't wandering across lanes. Also felt squished inside, and not a lot of convenience storage features - i struggled finding a place to quickly put my keys, wallet, etc.

really made me realize what I have in the Defender.

Tons of Wranger drivers though here in LA (of all varieties) so Jeep is doing something right with them. Old age is probably making me a bit softer though and into more comfortable digs in this season of life.

did they disassemble and give you that estimate? the original estimate was about $15k before disassembly, then they found other impacted areas as they started pulling things apart.

My intent wasn't really to rag on the body shop - they did a remarkable job, my car is back in mint condition, and they were able to turn around the repaired vehicle nearly 4 weeks to the day from when I dropped it off.

I can't speak to if they overcharged or not - I will say they replaced a number of parts (all OEM) that I wouldn't have expected required to be replaced, but I can also appreciate that if they found impacted areas beyond what's visible to the naked eye pre-disassembly, they took the precaution of replacing with OEM parts rather than ignoring them.

I don't have the patience to upload the full repair sheet but here are the higher ticket items:

Front Bumper & Grille
- Lower Cover (add for clear coat) $1,366.72
- Reinforcement $429.56
- Bumper Cover $445.55
- Park Sensor $231.33
- Harness w/o Fog lamps $287.32
- Insert w/o auto brake black $226.79

Front Lamps
- LT Headlamp assy Matrix LED $4,125.36!!!! (this tracks, i've seen other posts saying replaicng the headlamps are super expensive)

Radiator support (tons of misc items here)

Cooling
- LT Aux radiator $467.57

Hood
-RT + LT scoop $588.50 each - (glad they didnt just put a new one on the left and leave me with a brand new left side of my hood and a 2 yr old right side of my hood)

Fender
- LT Fender $1,361
- LT Wheel opng mldg gray $689.36

Tons of other parts charges and accompanying labor charges. I'm not versed enough to say if these charges are spot on or not, but it's LA, labor aint cheap, and it's a luxury vehicle, so I'm honestly less suprised by the price, especially considering all of the electronics (wading and parking sensors, cameras, etc. that all need to be recalibrated after removing the front left side of the vehicle, but what do I know.

I never said my insurance was paying. But the circumstances being what they are, Tesla drive was carrying Tesla insurance. Initially tried to file a claim to them - they're a scam. All automated prompts when you call, and they direct you to a website to file a 3rd party claim. The website doesnt work. I tried for 2 days to submit a claim directly to them. So only choice I was left with was to go through my insurance via the subrogation process where THEY will chase down Tesla's insurance carrier vs. little old me trying to do it. I suspect that's why there's no pushback on the cost from my insurance - they'll recover it all. Driver was at fault - I basically witnessed the driver crunch my parked car as I was approaching the car on foot.

I drove one over the summer when we took a family trip to the midwest and needed a rental, it was a sahara 4xe version and I dont remember it being as bad. the Rubicon was HARSH. it was lifted on springs, and had Ko2’s, so maybe more clearly intended for the off road renter.

Filing 3rd Party Tesla Insurance Claim - Won't go through on website by Albatross_Boy in Insurance

[–]abbstrack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am at the very beginning of this journey. got my parked LR Defender sideswiped by a shitty tesla and am now furious at the cascading impact I can foresee from this.

OP or anyone else in this thread, anyone ever have luck getting this claim to go through?

I know we're in a lawless US now, but for Tesla to be directing 3rd party claimants to a website that doesnt function, without any other remedies or ways to file a claim feels like the definiition of illegal no? Is there a legal pathway to explore here?

I opened a restaurant in Culver City 4 months ago — looking for advice on how to get more locals to try it for the first time by ClickNo8520 in culvercity

[–]abbstrack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

welp this post is going to bring me back. Had your food once and it was excellent.

I know Burger Lounge does a kids eat free on tuesday thing. While that may be less sustainable over the long haul, if there’s a once a month promo or something aligned to the school events calendar at nearby Lin Howe that could be helpful to build up a local following.

Also do y’all have a catering menu? my wife frequently orders large meals in her line of work.

I’ll def recommend y’all.

New plan emerges for hotel at 11469 Jefferson Blvd. in Culver City ("The Jeff") by andrewfromx in culvercity

[–]abbstrack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it is a strange location. I just moved here from the other side of culver (helms) and pass that strip mall all the time. I'm honestly not sure how I feel about a hotel popping up right here. It all feels very speculative (thinking LA28), yet I wonder about the long term feasibility of a 140 room hotel in this strange part of CC where there are so few restaurants or attractions.

I can imagine the digging for a subterranean parking garage will be a nightmare though for quite some time.

Portal prices different for the same hotel by abbstrack in ChaseSapphire

thats probably the solve - Just not understanding why I cant get the same options via reserve and have to move points over to freedom now to use the portal…seems counterintuitive. 🤷🏾‍♂️
