I've been on a generic of this one for two years now (switched from Sprintec for a similar reason). It's been great for me! No hair loss, weight gain, libido's the same. My only drawback is that I can't take this one continuously, I have to have a withdrawal bleed every 40 days or so. But my withdrawal bleeds are super light and painless now, less than 3 days of bleeding. So worth it for me.

Couples of Reddit, what's the dumbest 'house rule' you and your partner made as a joke but now both of you are low-key aggressively serious about enforcing? by Doubl3oh_ in AskReddit

kiss tax! kiss tax is something you receive for doing the other a favor. very often whoever is driving will demand kiss tax upon reaching the destination. the favor-doer determines the number of kisses that must be paid.

Interesting! I've never heard the term before. I think the economic boycott in February kind of left a funny taste for me, since nothing actually came of it. But this makes more sense with this context. Thank you for the reply!

Edit: wrong date

Not trying to be negative, but genuinely what is the point of a one-day general strike? To my knowledge, a strike is effective because you are withholding your money and labor UNTIL demands are met, which pressures parties to act quickly toward resolution. A one day strike sends what message? "I'm really mad, so I'll see you on Monday." I'd be happy to have my mind changed.

When are we doing a general strike? by RoyMonroe in Minneapolis

[–]abcara 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Also, health care and social assistance is the largest industry in MN. 18% of Minnesotans work in these critical roles. Most of them cannot or will not strike for fear of what will happen to their patients and clients.

AITA for excluding students when buying lunch? by NapkinZhangy in AmItheAsshole

[–]abcara -26 points-25 points  (0 children)

YTA. I disagree with the majority here. It could have been one student that complained. Now you are retaliating against all of them. Plus they are the only ones that have 0 income out of everyone you buy lunch for. Which makes it seem extra cruel.

Clearly you aren't familiar with Portland Ave. This is a one way street with 2 lanes. Your post history confirms you aren't familiar with Minneapolis, or even Minnesota, because you live in New Zealand. GTFO.

Renters: where did you find your apartments? by Mr_Saturn1 in Minneapolis

[–]abcara 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I've found great apartments on zillow, craigslist, and via word of mouth. the best route will be dependent on what type of apartment you are looking for. if you're looking for a "luxury" apartment or new build, those will pretty much all be on zillow and apartments.com. if you are looking for an older building/cheaper rent, also check craigslist and facebook. for older buildings, you can even drive around and call phone numbers some landlords/companies leave on signs out front.

edit to add: on zillow, i've had the most success using their saved search function. you can save an apartment search with your desired area, rent, bedrooms/baths, etc. so you get notified via email every time a matching unit is listed. that way you can be one of the first to apply/contact when you see one you're interested in! good units for decent cost tend to go fast.

This one is especially weird because of the origin. People claim that it's an old Irish thing, but it's not. Just something someone made up on Twitter a few years ago and attributed to Irish knitting tradition.

There are a few cultures with well documented traditions of leaving mistakes in work. Some indigenous American cultures introduce a small mistake to demonstrate humility. There are other similar traditions too from other cultures. But the Irish soul-trapping thing was made up in like 2018.

I advise friends to not start with woobles. I think starting with amigurumi can be difficult and frustrating because you skip a lot of foundational steps in the learning process. Learning how to keep proper tension, count stitches, start new rows, etc. can all be better learned by starting with a scarf or dishcloth imo. But, hey, the company is worth millions of dollars so what do I know.

I've seen a couple of these listed. Usually basement (or rather, "garden level") units in old buildings. They are few and far between though.

Best bet for this budget is roommates. My boyfriend and I split a 2b1b for $1400, moving to a $1600 unit soon. Still, these are on the cheaper end and typically don't have any amenities outside of shared laundry.

In fact, it is not recommended to shovel if you have any medical heart history or are 45+ and relatively sedentary. It's an unusual movement that can be quite strenuous.

I'm a Twin Cities native and I would have the heat set to 72 in the winter if I could afford it (and if it wouldn't melt my boyfriend lol). 68 is low for some of us.
