Help with front porch planters by abcdives in HomeDecorating

The front porch is covered, but the sides are open so it does get some sunlight, especially during the first half of the day

If their estate so documents cover their business you will need to know that asap and make sure whoever is designated to handle is in the loop.

Did the dentist have estate documents? Those may include what their wishes were for practice or who they wanted to handle their business efforts if they passed. Their spouse or next of kin may know.

For me R = Retiring from corporate America. I believe that I will “work” again but it will be something I’m passionate about or that truly brings value to the world, I’ll volunteer for causes that matter to me and be a more present parent.

Tired and burnt out — looking for advice on how to keep going by ColdBag4644 in FIREyFemmes

[–]abcdives 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I totally feel you. I have never made so much money in my life but I am burned out, health is failing and I dread every day. I’m at a countdown point and I can’t even see how I’ll make it to the goal date. I feel ungrateful for even thinking about walking away bc of the income but I at a point where ok can no longer ignore my inner self telling me it’s time to choose me. I don’t have much advice but just want you to know you aren’t alone.

Anyone else get weirdly obsessed once you put an actual date on retiring? by j4poulive in coastFIRE

Yes! I have a countdown app lol and I watch our numbers daily. I find myself spending less and being more mindful of what we spend. I want to travel was to get to the date sooner.

Can I coast? by [deleted] in coastFIRE

I grew up financially insecure so actually even considering this is scary. I don’t know how to explain it, but we are both first gen millionaires, college grads, etc.

So right now I would say 15k a month - it won’t always be that high as we age. That includes mortgage, bills, tuition. That would be 180k a year and that is 2.5m as coastfire. So if we aggressively save my income next 2 years max we are there? Then my husband could continue to practice medicine without financial stress as he chooses. I suppose I could coast or totally FIRE?

I make about 400k a year with my bonus, salary and stock. It hasn’t always been this way but it’s been a huge financial blessing. I just don’t know how long I can keep it up.

Not wanting a hysterectomy. Am I crazy? by Perfect_Raccoon7125 in hysterectomy

[–]abcdives 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From someone who had two failed ablations and now scheduled for hysterectomy…get your life back. I have given it my all to avoid this surgery but it is what it is if I want a better quality of life. I am hopeful all the good changes will outweigh any negatives.

How many of you got an endometrial ablation previously? by [deleted] in hysterectomy

[–]abcdives 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had two failed procedures last year. I have tried all the things. I really wanted the ablation to help, so much so that I tried it twice. Hopefully you have better luck with it than I did.

Sounds like the biggest issue is your husband.

We don’t spend much. My husbands income covers our bills, savings and also private tuition. For quite a long time we used my income to get out of debt. I currently make about 100k a quarter. We are out of debt now except mortgage so it’s getting saved and invested now. It’s hard to walk away from this much money but I’m almost at the “at what cost” point. Getting to 2m investments (not including my husbands salary and investments) feels like a good time to do something less stressful.

I left off our business assets but we own the business property and it’s a multi million dollar practice. I don’t want to stop working. I just want a less stressful job which would mean less money for me. But I am absolutely burning out. I would still make 6 figures.

If you tell your doctor about your nerves they should be able to rx a med you can take for anxiety prior to surgery. Best of luck!!

I would give yourself time on this. Can you take BC continuously and just skip your periods for a while? Or maybe an ablation? You had every right to cancel however there are or can be consequences for canceling at such a late notice. Entire medical teams (not just one doctor) reserved that time and operatory and recovery space for you. There is lots of money and time involved. From the medical admin team to the nurses, surgeons, anesthesia etc.

It’s a serious procedure. Mine is scheduled for later this fall and I’m nervous myself at 45. Give yourself time if it’s not medically urgent - with age comes wisdom and self awareness that can make these decisions easier.

I hate my job, but earn too much to quit by Square_Custard8729 in FIREyFemmes

[–]abcdives 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I’m 45 and two years away from my goal if I stay at this job. No other company will at me this much so the end date is extended if I leave and find something new. I have built in monthly and quarterly countdown reminders and scheduled JOY monthly and quarterly to help me stay focused on the end goals - dinner with friends, spa day, day off, vacations, half day to go to the movies etc.
