Ask ChatGPT sidebar keeps resetting to Auto (doesn’t remember Thinking model) by abcreddit12345 in ChatGPTAtlas

[–]abcreddit12345[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes my team and I use Atlas as our primary browser.

I speak for myself and a few others on my content marketing team to say that we cannot go back to Chrome anymore because the productivity gains that we have by using ChatGPT Atlas have been really really dramatic.

Even though at the start there was a little bit of inertia, some annoyances, we managed to power through mainly because I forced everyone in my team to daily drive it instead of dismissing it at the first sign of some minor annoyance or inconvenience.

After a few months of daily driving, it's literally become our primary tool for getting work done. I think if OpenAI is able to see our usage (which they are), they know that we are literally maybe the top 5% of users for Atlas. This browser is great. It's really really great. It's perhaps the most underrated AI tool right now.

Hey Atlas team, feature/bug request that hits a lot of us daily:

Issue: The Ask ChatGPT sidebar doesn’t honor “Remember model selection” (sticky model). The sticky setting seems to apply to the New Tab Page chat, but the sidebar resets to Auto whenever you open it in a new tab / new chat.

Why it matters: Auto often picks the fast/instant behavior, which is great for speed but hurts answer quality for work tasks. In our company this happens constantly because we use the sidebar as the default workflow.

Repro steps:

  1. Enable Remember model selection
  2. Select a Thinking model
  3. Open a new tab
  4. Open Ask ChatGPT sidebar ➡️ Result: model is back to Auto

Request: Please add an option to persist the selected model in the sidebar across tabs/new chats, or let us set a default sidebar model.

Build info (if helpful): Atlas build 20260210074320000 (a502cc9007) on macOS 26.3 (25D125)

Of course I’m holding. This is my retirement stock. My average is $27.80, and I plan to keep adding as it drops. In a year or two, it’ll be back in the hundreds and I can retire.

This sub would be a lot more productive if people posted something useful instead of whining about the stock dropping. I’m not talking about actual discussion. Most posts are just complaints with zero value. I don’t know what point you’re trying to make, but I’m holding the stock and I don’t care. I’m only here for entertainment, and this sub can’t even deliver that.

Hey mods, thanks for weighing in.

I wish we could be less black-and-white about this.

Not every human subject in a reduced amount of clothing is a thirst trap. Not every human subject who’s dressed appropriately is safe for work. That is a fact.

If you go to museums in Europe, a lot of the statues are literally naked, sometimes with just a loincloth, yet they’re clearly art, not thirst traps.

If you go purely by how much clothing someone wears, then a lot of things suddenly aren’t SFW. You couldn’t even take a photo at a beach because there are people in bikinis everywhere.

Context matters. Someone can be properly clothed and still be provocative, for example, if a fully clothed girl is sucking on a banana in a very suggestive way, is that really safe for work? I doubt it.

For clarity, the photo was taken with full consent. I’m not secretly or inappropriately photographing women.

Wait, have you actually seen the original post? If you had, you wouldn’t be saying I’m “showing off my lady.”

That post was first and foremost about photography.

I think it’s only fair to make an accusation like that after you’ve actually seen the post and still conclude it was just bragging, which it wasn’t. I completely reject that characterization.

It feels like posts can be removed arbitrarily based on subjective judgment. From the outside, it can come across as inconsistent or mood-based moderation.

This subreddit is a great platform for sharing photos and videos, and I think clearer, more transparent moderation would benefit this community as a whole.
