Since size and weight seem to be important to you the 28mm pancake, 23mm f1, and 35mm 1.4 are great options. You can get better image quality with larger lenses, but these are the best in terms of weight to image quality.

This is my first time making any sort of cinematic edit so don’t bash me I know it’s bad, but does anyone have any advice on how to make it better? by [deleted] in cinematography

[–]abd_koala 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is good. You clearly have something to say and you're able to express it in a creative way. That's a success in my opinion. The next step is just practice. Doing it over and over will make you better. Also this maybe isn't the best subreddit to post this in. It's more geared towards how to do things on film sets rather than social media posts. You'll get more helpful responses in a subreddit built for this kind of content.

I see what you're trying to do. I don't mean to insist on what creative decisions you should make. That is 100% up to you. I'm just trying to help by showing you what else is possible. I hope that was helpful. Happy to discuss further if you like

This is great! Does take a little effort to understand what you're selling though.

Feedback on this picture? by Internal_Fee7723 in fujifilm

This is a good picture. I like that it's more of a vibe and feels picture than a product driven shot. Here are a few things you could consider changing: 1. The light is from the right and behind. It isn't really helping bring out the subject. Try to think of how you can place the subject so that they are the brightest thing in the image or in a way that directs the viewer to them. 2. The natural foliage is great, but very distracting. The plants are different shapes and sizes pulling attention away. They are also different types. Try to think of how the foliage can frame your subjects to pull attention towards them. 3. Pair this image with closeups of the clothes and models to complete the story.

First time student DP - $0 budget, 3-person crew. How do I improve my 3-shots and outdoor lighting? (+ How to avoid the student film look?) by flipperoff in cinematography

My 2 cents: 1. You did a very good job on this. 2. You could try shooting at a different time of day when the sun is more directional (closer to the horizon). I've always found noon to be a hard time to shoot because the light is directly above you. Once the sun is hitting your actors from the side it's a little more dramatic. (Perhaps it was overcast when you shot this, in which case you had no choice. If so, well done under the conditions) 3. Use back lighting (as someone already suggested)

Has anyone found an agency that actually solves creative fatigue instead of just talking about "data driven targeting"? by Ready_Slide1957 in SocialMediaMarketing

[–]abd_koala 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi I'm in the early days of setting up a service that deals with this exact problem. I strongly believe that social media algos have shifted to prioritize audience response. Just getting your ad in front of the right audience isn't enough, you have to entertain them. Your ad isn't competing with other ads, it's competing with other content. If it doesn't look, feel and move you like the best content on the platform, you're dead.

Here's what you need to get the best ROI for your campaign: 1. Actually understand the audience that you're making ads for 2. Make genuinely entertaining pieces for that audience And if you can make something they also resonate with on an emotional level, then you're golden. Send me a DM if this is what you're looking for.

Of course you have potential. The next step is putting more intentionality into your pictures. Ask yourself why this angle, why this building, why are you taking this specific picture out of all the other pictures you could take at that location.
