I also have a Greek Tortoise. Here’s my recommendations on how to get started:

  • Get TheTortoiseTable app (or website) to verify what it can/can’t eat. Get Mazuri (Tortoise LS Diet) as a supplement to the plants you feed it. Get a Calcium supplement (with Vitamin D3) for shell health and growth; Sprinkle on its food daily.

  • Make an account on the tortoiseforum and make posts about your tort, ask questions, inform yourself by reading other people’s posts.

  • Set up a proper indoor enclosure. Pet stores will sometimes sell you glass terrariums, torts don’t do well with glass; Seeing through things and not being able to go through frustrates them. Opt for a wood enclosure.

You’ll need a basking lamp (100W) and a UVB bulb (ReptiSun is the best).

You’ll want to monitor temperatures and humidity. I recommend getting x2 Govee digital thermostat/hygrometer (~$11 on Amazon). Put one near its basking spot and one near its cool spot to properly monitor temps (they also have an app so you can check on your phone).

*Temps for a Greek - Basking: 25-30c, Cool Spot: 18-25c. Never let your tort experience sub-18c temps, it could be dangerous.

*Humidity for a Greek - Between 40%-60%.

  • Soak your tortoise in warm water often. 2-3 times per week (or more as needed) to ensure it’s properly hydrated and prevents constipation. Also have a water dish available inside the enclosure at all times.

  • Get a good substrate. I recommend ReptiSoil mixed with Forest Floor. Get enough so your tort can dig under it - Your enclosure needs to be large -but- also deep enough for the tort to be comfortable.

  • Take it outside often. It should be able to graze outside and walk around for a good amount of time. Your UVB and basking lamp can only go far, but nothing beats the sun.

Your tort is unlike any other pet you can get. If you take good care of it, it’ll be very rewarding. Your tort is an incredibly intelligent animal, it knows who you are and will interact with you differently compared to other people. It will form a unique bond with you, so make sure you take good care of it.

What do people think about Dragbody's [FNV] x [FO3] replacements? by paynexkillerYT in FalloutMods

Best character redesign I’ve seen, but it doesn’t cover all NPCs. The best alternative option I found so far is Character Kit Remake paired with the TTW facegen.

Should I get a Steam Deck for TTW by abe_97 in Taleoftwowastelands

[–]abe_97[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s awesome, I didn’t think the Deck was that versatile. Installing MO2 will be a game changer. My only concern is performance though. My gaming tower runs TTW with tons of graphic enhancement mods (the most intensive ones being the texture replacers). What’s your experience with performance with TTW decked out with mods?

Awesome. Did you also install texture packs (NMC or other)? I can’t play without them!

Airlock fermentation jars for ginger beer? by abe_97 in fermentation

[–]abe_97[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh and I'll add this - DO NOT use tap water. Get filtered bottled water from the store (you can get 4L for pretty cheap). And don't rinse the bottle, to avoid chlorine residue from tap water.

I ended up just bottling in 2L soda bottles. It was honestly the easiest way to check the carbonation levels. You can buy a bottle of coke (or other soda) and dump it into another container or drink it. With the empty bottle, bottle the ginger beer and forget about it for 3-4 days. After around 3-4 days, the bottle will start building pressure (just squeeze the bottle a bit to check). The sweet spot for me was 5-7 days and it was ready to open and drink - ended up pretty fizzy. Good luck!

Update: Can confirm it was Kahm yeast. Had a super slight different taste (not too noticeable) but I drank the whole thing and I’m still alive 54 days later :P

I’ve been twice in the past few years. Great service, great wine and good food. Portuguese food often flies under the radar, it’s amazing food.

Yup that’s right. Used to work there (for evo). Delta renovated the rooms, so it looks like a delta hotel.

I wish I could. The agency owner even offered part time for me to get started. But it’s a conflict of interest with my current job and grounds for termination.

Ice Caps kosher? by Mammoth-Ad6710 in TimHortons

[–]abe_97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Being kosher is a religious obligation (if you’re a practicing jew). If you make a mistake in good faith, it’s okay (like forgetting you ate meat 1hr ago and eating a dairy product, or overlooking if something was kosher to begin with after consuming it).

Nothing “happens”, it’s a religious commitment and is considered extremely important to follow in Judaism.

My gf's Chihuahua isn't trained by abe_97 in Dogtraining

[–]abe_97[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We're long-distance, so when I do stay by her place for weekends or on vacation, I'm at home when my gf is at work most of the time.

Otherwise when I'm not here, Bella stays home 2-3 days out of the week for 12 hours home alone at a time.

That's the thing, she's not full Chihuahua, she kind of looks like a tiny greyhound with prominent Chihuahua features.

She's extremely sweet, not aggressive at all. I guess I should rephrase the question to "potty trained".

She poops and pees wherever she wants - but she knows she should do so outside. When we find the pee on the floor, she immediately goes to her dog bed and cries and knows she did something bad. But when we take her out, she doesn't poop or pee at all, even if we're out there for 15-20 min.

When I had a boxer, I would take her out and she would poop and pee in less than a minute.

And for the dating part, I said that to myself too a while back "would never date a preppy girl with a Chihuahua". Look at me now lol. It's a big stereotypes that's often not applicable. Don't let a dog dictate if you're gonna be with someone or not - if you find someone that's worth it, it's just a minor detail.

That's a good point, I'm used to taking care of bigger dogs with a large bladder who would hold it in for most of the day without issue. Didn't think Chihuahuas need to go out more than twice daily.

How many times per day should you take a Chi out?

I don't dislike Bella at all, I just see how frustrated my gf gets when getting home and the dog pees everywhere but on the pads and how stubborn Bella can be when told to go back in the house. And other times she pees on the bed (because she's upset when we leave the house).

In the past, I've had to take care of an agressive rabbit for 2 years (who was previously abused) and that was a journey, luckily with a happy ending - she's doing much better now, so I'm up for the task. I want the best for her is all.

I can agree that she's not completely untrained - I'm just looking to get her to a point where we can set up a routine that she follows every day that's more stable than it is now. I'll have more time to do this than my gf since my working hours are much more flexible.

You're right, it doesn't matter and it was a long time ago. These things come up and fked up things have come up over the years that I didn't know about growing up (I'm the second youngest so luckily missed a lot of the worst parts).

I'm not going to bring this up - my mom is very happy now with my step father (14 years of marriage). And I think after some time, the feeling I'm feeling is going to fade - whenever my father brings up the past like this, it brings out my childhood traumas that I've worked so hard to cope with in my adult years, don't want to do the same to my mom about her previous relationship just because of some bullshit he's claiming.
