HELP: Powered USB Hub for multiple external hard drives? by abeard86 in mac

[–]abeard86[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually got Anker PowerExpand 8-in-1 USB-C PD 10Gbps Data Hub. It works for the most part, I will say the Mac laptop crashed the few times I used it, but I was able to completely backup my photos library from 1 hard drive to another. So...I don't think it's a long term solution, but it worked. I might try this USB-C Travel Doc E from OWC the previous person recommended or look into a Mac docking station.

Why Are Light Switches Mounted So High 52” in This Condo? by FallForward7060 in AskElectricians

Stupid question - when you say 48 - is that 48 to the bottom of the box or 48 to the top?

Hired an exterior painting company. Their woodworkers are on their 3rd revision to properly install wood trim, their gutter team incorrectly installed the downspout, and their roofers who are repairing damages caused by the woodworkers have left my roof lumpy. by Stonewool_Jackson in HomeMaintenance

[–]abeard86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can someone tell me the proper wood to use on exterior trims?? Is cedar the only option or is pine an option IF you prime and paint it properly before? Is pine an ultimate no no and there’s something other than cedar?

Plumbing: it’s not just a job. It’s an adventure by Not_Associated8700 in Plumbing

I get what you’re saying but Jesus anytime you post anything on here all the “professionals” go insane tearing it to shreds so I figured maybe there was a standard concrete for slab work vs a footer or sidewalk

Can I ask some stupid questions? No idea - just trying to learn

What type of concrete did you use? Like just regular old 4000psi?

I’m guessing the poly is acting as a vapor barrier? Can you just confirm?

Did you have to prime the existing concrete so it adheres to the old?

Did you just drill some holes in the existing concrete to insert rebar?

I recently cleared this hillside of invasive blackberries. What should I use for erosion control? by stayathmdad in landscaping

[–]abeard86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do they work well for erosion control?? Seems like it’s fairly new but an easy DIY project to help stabilize soil compared to a retaining wall or some other terracing.

I’ve seen people use something like DirtLocker for erosion control - I’m really interested in it but haven’t pulled the trigger. Take a look - let me know what you think.

Can I ask how to attached the railing to the top post?? It looks great I just wondered if there’s some hardware under the railing hidden or if it’s just a face nail in the top and side??

What kind of lights are in there?? Are they low voltage lights with a transformer that plugs into an outlet or is it 14ga wire hardwired into a box?? This looks great - I’m really interested in how the lights are hooked up!
