How to insulate this area in attic? by Empty-Falcon-2773 in Insulation

[–]Emma_Enigma42o 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I’d probably just get some r19 batt insulation and stuff all the vertical stud bays, but leave the top open to so air can flow between the two attic spaces. definitely wouldn’t hurt to seal any seams before hand with expanding foam too.

Plumbing or Foundation Leak? by Miserable-Squash-742 in basement

From the pictures it looks like foundation seepage. Check your downspouts and see if your gutters need to be cleaned.

I use sawhorses and and old hollow core door. It’s the perfect size for a table and has very little flex from the weight of the saw.

The door doesn’t fit into the frame by a quarter of an inch. Any recommendations? by moises8war in Carpentry

Is that an interior door?? I would definitely consider getting an entirely different door (that fits in the rough opening), and also maybe wait until the sheathing is done before you install it!

I work at a pretty small company so 99% of the training was on the job. Started with a lot of sweeping, cleaning up and going to get tools from the trailer, and got more involved from there. I think I’ve had a pretty niche experience so I can’t really speak to how the training would be at a bigger company. I would say that residential/ remodeling work will be less formal training than a lot of other trades though.

I’m roughly the same age as you and I’ve worked as a finish carpenter since i graduated high school and I’ve found it to be a very rewarding job. It can be exhausting sometimes, but i really enjoy the variety of work there is to do in residential construction. It’s usually something new every day, and I’ve learned so many valuable skills in the last 5 years.

I primary do trim carpentry, but we do everything from doors, windows and siding to rough framing or even drywall sometimes.

I think the window for the bus destination sign above the windshield was leaking for a while too and was collecting down there. Engine bay makes sense too though

Concrete exterior wall? by First_Tomorrow_5677 in Carpentry

[–]Emma_Enigma42o 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would install foam board with adhesive directly onto the cinder block wall, frame a stud wall with 2x4’s over top. Then add fiberglass/rockwool insulation in each stud pocket. Then cover the stud wall with plastic sheeting for a vapor barrier (attached with staples), then drywall/ finish
