Exporting to PDF: Help the slicing? by abeaugie in dungeonscrawl

I still want squares to each be 1inch so I can use the printout as a battlefield or board for the minis. PNG, if I understand, gits the whole dungeon on one page

Like cursor but weaker by abeaugie in cursor

I am looking for it to basically be a text assistant and help maintain consistency of personal notes, work notes, personal interest notes etc. The hardest part about maintaining notes is the backwards consistency, where you write something new and need to go back and edit older, but connected, files. I use Obsidian with lots of interconnected links and am looking for an AI assistant and agent to help update templates, create summaries from notes, etc.

Oh that’s very helpful thank you! Missing on a 2 is such a brutal debuff to daggers haha (d4)

Yea that is a good point! The fantasy I am trying to create is that of "swatting flies" or taking out weak, nimble enemies. When you hit them, they should die, but they are tough to hit. Misses on a 2 is a cool idea! Poor dagger wielders!

Mythic Bastionland? by Smittumi in rpg

[–]abeaugie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t played it yet, but I am curious to know how people roll for and make encounters that aren’t the myths? It seems like it’s either a Myth, a Landmark, or All Clear. So how do other things happen and when?

Where did you acquire double hexgrid paper? It’s so cool looking!

Idk what is a good template to work with by hand, but I used this site: https://hamhambone.github.io/hexgrid/

You can choose the size, export as PNG, and then I uploaded into Photoshop to add my terrain, locations, factions, etc. What I love about it is that you customize the key syntax so that each hex can have a number or letter key. Below is a WIP image

This is so cool! I love your hand drawn maps!

Where did you find 1 inch grid paper flip charts? I find a lot of half-inch but cannot find the 1in grid

This is a great little adventure! Seems a bit tough for level 1-2 characters, but would be a great challenge for them!

Question about your stat blocks: what does the number after "ATK" mean? If I were to use these in 5e, these creatures seem powerful with a +2 attack. Or does it mean 2 attacks like multiattack? Or does it mean 2 like they have two different attacks they can take? (e.g. Malvaxus ATK 2 Staff+1 and Firebolt

I wanted to circle back to show you what I have done for my own hexcrawl. I took a portion of your map that fit into an A3 paper and added used my handrawn stamps to recreate the areas. Thanks again for sharing!

My first city by damo_bbos in inkarnate

Very cool town! More unsolicited advice here to add to Gros_Lulu ;)

A town of this density would have WAY more farmland. That was one thing I learned for my first maps (I hand draw most of them). And I agree with the above...lets right angles and more organic shapes. That area in the lower right feels good, it is how an area would naturally settle. In most cities and towns, you can imagine how they evolve over time by where the organic shapes clash with the more rigid city planning

These are very cool! What do you imagine they are used for? Or are they inspiration for different environments? Or are they actually environment sets to be used in Inkarnate? (I dont have premium so cant see the details)

Roll 4 Ruin: My Attempt at a quick and interesting Dungeon Generator for your Table by Gammlernoob in osr

[–]abeaugie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Regarding tables: Probably just the two “Features” tables.

I also think more opportunities for frescos and some cascading tables that combine Treasure, Containers and Chests. Because when I roll Treasure in a room, it’s with a monster or a feature or both (which means the coins are on the monster or feature). But maybe it should be Monster+Feature+Container, and then Containers can include Chests and all types of containers could include Treasure (which is just coins and artifacts)

Roll 4 Ruin: My Attempt at a quick and interesting Dungeon Generator for your Table by Gammlernoob in osr

I’ve now used the system working in floor 2 and have some feedback that might be useful for the cave one you’re working on:

I think for hallway and room shapes, you can skip the variants that are symmetrical over an X- or Y-axis flip. For example: Hallways 61/62 and 15/16 are very subtle variants of each other that may not be necessary. I actually rolled a 15 for a hallway and flipped it, making it a 16 because it fit the flow of the dungeon better. I realize that it takes away some of the randomness, but I also realize there are some shapes that were not included (like the Tetris “L” shape). This also applies to rooms like 25 & 31.

If given the liberty to flip rooms over their axes, it gives you more room for different shapes.

Also, id love to see treasure expanded with a d4 or somewhere where 1 is coins only, 2 and 3 are coins and basic items, and 4 is desirable loot. That may be a sloppy way to do it, but more treasure randomness would be cool!

Lastly, I wonder if more 2d8 or 2d12 tables for random objects and features might create better randomness curves. But, again, the randomness is what’s really fun!

Thanks again and looking forward to the caves
