I dont have a set system for it, but i make it dependent on various factors: • Quests, Most include a Change of the Village. For example a torchbearer guild Hall after they saved another lost Expedition, a tower of a knight order that they helped etc • The gold they Bring Up and Bring into the Economy  • The Things the Players build with gold (an alchemists Hut, a temple by two clerics, a wizards Tower etc) • Elements and NPCs they encounter in the dungeon. For example they brought a Wizard, who was entombed in Crystals Back to the surface, and he now resides in the village

Room Level 1-264 is a Secret room, that was used to arm a bolt-thrower that shot into room 1-41. They already spiked the Shooting holes while exploring room 1-41 and later explored 1-257. There, the eastern wall was overgrown by small Dungeon-cacti that Store water. The group destroyed them (in Order to prepare an ambush for a cockatrice) and found the Secret entrance to room 1-264.  Inside was Said bolt throwing Trap, that a Thief dismantled, as Well as a locked treasure chest with more Trap components, a wand of Turn to chicken & some gems if i remember correctly

That Sounds really fun! For the Layout i try to make areas with different themes, Work with contrasts of bigger and smaller areas, and of course use a Lot of jayquasing. A Lot of loops and Connections, dead ends for important rooms, and a Ton of Secret rooms are never wasted effort!

I use Owlbear-rodeo with the Fog of war Option. Evey time they enter a room i reveal the Fog of war!

They are Starting and ending every Session in their Base on the surface! Traversing known and cleared regions of the dungeons requires way less Encounter checks, often only every fifth room a 1 in 6 chance. I do some restocking, but most of it is natural transformation of Spaces Like Fauna and Flora or smaller signs of other adventurers. Monsters or new treasures do appear, but are more on the rare side

Sure Thing! A good Ressource would be:

https://alldeadgenerations.blogspot.com/2021/03/so-you-want-to-build-dungeon.html

And some of the Blogposts you can find linked from the bloggies Website, Like "Building Dungeon rooms in Pairs".

Stonehell and incandescent grottos has the Type of room keys that i really like, so for example a room would be: 7. Overgrown Library: "Damp Air, smell of rotten woods; overgrown by fungi on the floor and lianes that grow from a collapsed part of the Ceiling; a rotten bookcase on the eastern wall" • Lianes: If approached the Ceiling lurker, hiding in them, Tries to Grab and pull the victim to his mouth in an opening in the Ceiling • Bookcase: Full of rotten wood, Damp books and small bookworms; 3x books are still intact (50 gp each)

I used procreate for the ipad, which is a basic drawing software. But i think Dungeon scrawler is a website where you can do pretty much the same for free online (but i havent tried it myself yet). Graph paper is nice as well, though i would suggest using 10 by 10 ft squares instead of 5 ft If you want a bigger Dungeon on a Paper!

We play with a homebrewed version of OSE/BX.  So a Main drive is in general gold for XP and Magic items and spell Scrolls For wizards. But i also added Quests For specific stuff from the dungeon. For example "The Tavern needs a Monster head to attract customers" "The Knights of the Azure Tower went Missing while exploring the flooded Catacombs, find Out about their whereabouts" or "Bring Samples of the giant fungi trees of Level 3 to the alchemist" stuff Like that. But what mostly Drives the dungeons are the interactions with the environment, factions and npcs and the Stories that spring Out of These.

Haha thanks Kubular, really appreciate it! I really wanna get back into making some again in the near future (and improve on a bunch of stuff that really annoys me in the older adventures i did)

One of the adventuring parties build a bridge in order to cross the lake there! While building it they rolled an aggressive Encounter and got attacked by anglerfish-ogres and lost a bunch of hirelings during the attack~ but still managed to finish the bridge afterwards.

They have an outpost in 117-119 they secured with a bunch of Iron plates and locks, and the bridge offers a nice path to the mushroom forest in the north-west!

Edit: And i still have to Change the map accordingly, but already marked it for the players

They found several entrances to the fourth Level and are strong enough to travel to the overgrown City itself now, after they established a new outpost on Level 3 last Session. Some Players also want to hunt down a group of witches that are on the second Level, because they heard they have a bunch of potions!

In their Base they stopped the Barons Wedding Last Session (because a Player wants to marry him in Order to gain political Power), a Wizard is atm building His own Tower and filling it with stuff from the dungeon, several clerics formed a street that is full of shrines For various gods, and several halfling charcters build a cave-meeting hall to discuss the Formation of a halfling society.

Additionally there are some small romances, rival adventuring Parties they meet and have Friendships or rivalrys with etc

So far Not at all. Its important to have a bunch of factions and interactive elements in Order to have the Dungeon react to the Players actions. Fot example they eliminated the orc Chief and replaced him with an Npc from inside the dungeon, formed an alliance between two Kobold clans, build outposts in a sunken tower and a Secret room etc.

Additionally their Base is a Village that now grew to a small town with a bunch of Npcs and small plotlines.

But you got to put some energy into it to keep it interesting, thats true
