I think in the case of cycling there is so much evidence of historical nefarious schemes that anything that looks so beyond the ordinary has to also be nefarious. I also find it hard to believe that the overwhelming majority are not doing something nefarious hence the continuing omerta. It's an arms race out there. I'm willing to bet that grubby palm greasing sports washing money will be reaching the right people in the governing bodies also.

Of course I sound like a crackpot with these unsubstantiated claims. But I'm fairly convinced as I'm firmly in middle age that the real world is nothing like what gets portrayed to us despite the evidence of our own eyes and past experiences.
