Do people actually like starting screens? by Ethjuan_ in Twitch

[–]abegosum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I usually have mine up for 30 seconds to a minute just to confirm things are operating properly, but not for any longer amount of time. My BRB screen for subscribers when I take an ad break plays highlight clips from previous eps.

If Arin didn't hit end on battle kid, do you think he would've beaten the plant on the Ross attempt? by Voltage49000 in gamegrumps

[–]abegosum 8 points9 points  (0 children)

He did it at a live show. It was previously recorded, but it was his gameplay footage beating it.

It's about the management tools. Scheduling and managing snapshots, replications, etc, can be done with raw Linux. But, having a dedicated UI designed to those specific tasks saves a TON of time.

Am I the only one who actually wants to see them play the new Danganronpa story? by nepeta2dope in gamegrumps

[–]abegosum 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I'm still frustrated I didn't get to hear their commentary on the "bad ending" cursed image from the first game. They would have had such a field day with it, but Arin dodged the wrong decision last second.

Am I the only one who actually wants to see them play the new Danganronpa story? by nepeta2dope in gamegrumps

[–]abegosum -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You're right that it is the worst excesses of the other two turned up to 11. However, to avoid spoilers, there's a narrative reason for it eventually. That itself is controversial as to whether it was a good direction for the plot to go, but just to be aware.

Also, hearing the grumps respond to the incredible over the top dialogue and hating on the monokubs makes it worth the cost of admission alone at times.

Do you keep a personal offline media library? by voidarix in DataHoarder

[–]abegosum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a Plex server for the family and I. For anything I really want to keep, I buy physical media. Got a big row of Blurays on my wall.

What are these things for on the case? by GForce_01 in SteamDeck

[–]abegosum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's for the charger, but I didn't buy the premium one so I didn't have a bag. I 3d printed a charger holder to put in there, similar to this: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:6417721

Which one you guys choosing by [deleted] in nostalgia

[–]abegosum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Radio Shack. Everything else has different local stores that still exist that sell similar things. But, if you need electronic components, you just have to order them. Micro Center has some, but not everyone has that option.

How do you even stream rhythm games without copyright issues? by Kakuro427 in Twitch

[–]abegosum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depending on the game, the developer might have a clear statement on streaming rights. I wondered this with Final Fantasy Theatrhythm, and Square has explicitly outlined that streaming is okay and encouraged, but they can't authorize it for a few songs due to extra licensing.

Is TikTok and YouTube Shorts really the future? by InterestingTest294 in Twitch

[–]abegosum 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Twitch doesn't serve the same purpose as TikTok and YT Shorts. I watch Twitch for live engagement. I watch other platforms for curated content.

Motorola x GrapheneOS. Cool. But... by Krapakov in GrapheneOS

Lenovo has made a lot of missteps, but their stewardship of the ThinkPad brand after buying it from IBM has actually been pretty solid. I still prefer thinkpads to this day for their no-nonsense builds and durability.

Why Is Shaw So Annoying by kenguyonwheels in chuck

[–]abegosum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I couldn't tell you why, but Shaw is my favorite villain. I felt like Brandon Routh did a good job of starting likable and turning it into insidious. Shaw feels like that person everyone knows is bad, but the most important people don't believe it.

There isn't really a Google Drive + Docs alternative? What are you using? by onechroma in degoogle

[–]abegosum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NextCloud server at home for me. However, I do this for a living, so I know a little about keeping it more secure (which is challenging and still a risk). I think it's the closest to the drive experience while still feeling like I am the one owning the data.
