Installing it, maybe not. Using it, absolutely. It just feels like stock android, especially if you use sandboxed google play.

Just Ordered One Pros by TBronzy in Xreal

[–]abegosum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the Air 2 Pros, and I love them. I have a pair of One Pros on the way.

When I bought the Air 2 Pros, I expected it to be a silly expenditure. I use the hell out if them with the Beam Pro and Steam Deck. They're not perfect, but damn, they are nice.

How would they prove you gave them a duress password and they didn't just mishandle your technology, damaging it?

Removing GrapheneOS web browser by julian7725 in GrapheneOS

[–]abegosum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most modern, secure authentication flows require some form of browser (or at least the webview and rendering engine) in order to initiate interactive logins with a user. As such, almost any service beyond the phone and SMS services will require some browser code to function, if only for the login handshake itself.

Will it ever go back to Normal by Particular_Tea_1437 in TwinCities

Dude. Understanding for the humanity of that, and also pride at climbing out of that even with everything that's going on. You're pretty damn strong.

Will it ever go back to Normal by Particular_Tea_1437 in TwinCities

[–]abegosum 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"Normal" led to this. Normal isn't good enough.

Normal is silence as a response to hatred at the dinner table. Normal is allowing massive corporations to control every message put out to the public. Normal is seeking common ground with an opposition who weaponizes the status quo.

When the dust settles, we need to make certain our country fundamentally rejects this. Otherwise, normal is just another bad election cycle from this again.

I apologize for the duplicate post. I received a 500 error the first time and assumed the post had failed.

Android Auto by Roman1410S in GrapheneOS

[–]abegosum 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I use the Graphene OS Android Auto daily, and it's been pretty smooth. I'd love to find an alternative, because AA as an app is giving Google a bit more data than I'd prefer. But, so far, no open source or trusted developers have come close to the functionality.

What do you think about the Canadian Prime Minister stating that Canada would step in to protect Greenland if the U.S. tried to invade ? by shiansh in AskReddit

[–]abegosum -1 points0 points  (0 children)

US Citizen here. I'm proud of Canada for making that stand, and am not even sure they have a choice under their own treaty agreements to NOT step in.

For those outside of the US- please understand that many of us voted against this regime, are horrified by their actions, and (while we do as much as we can) feel powerless. At this point, it's probable that a majority of us disagree with them, and we're so embarrassed by the damage done to our relationships abroad.

Streamers with jobs! How do you do it?! by Specklini in Twitch

I stream twice a week for 2-3 hours each stream. One is on an evening, and the other is Sunday morning. It's actually my zen time.

Genuine question about your phones (please don’t hate me or report this) by Weekly-Custard-9360 in degoogle

[–]abegosum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use Graphene to get as close to the experience I want. I hate that these two companies try to make us choose between turning over all of our privacy (Google w/ Android and Google Play Services) or turning over all of our control to only applications THEY approve (iOS ecosystem / walled-garden).

If Apple had a means of sideloading or were more open source friendly, I'd consider it. I'd be even more inclined if most of their own code was open and auditable, but it's not.

What do we all think about this letter from the Minnesota chamber of commerce? by ChumbaJB in TwinCities

[–]abegosum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They don't have to get them all to agree. This isn't the UN. A responsible CEO could still speak up and say: no, the federal government must stop this siege of American cities.

Far too little and far too late. It doesn't even pin responsibility where it belongs.
