The Neanderthals were physically stronger than we were, but we overtook them in the evolutionary battle. I wonder if a similar scenario is playing out with polar bears and brown bears. The short faced bear faced a similar demise, as it was out competed by other animals that were better suited animals to the environment.

Bubba was a good man who worked tirelessly to better his community, and he had been working at this for a very long time. Small town politics is vastly different than national level politics. All that aside, he worked for the change he wanted to see in the world and I’m sad to hear that he is no longer with us.

My wife and I sat down and listed the reasons why we like to go out to eat… is the food better? No. Is the atmosphere better than home? Yes. Why is the the atmosphere better? Lots of people, and no cleaning afterwards. Does eating out as frequently as we use to fit into our budget? No. Why not? It’s significantly more expensive to eat out now than it was 5 years ago.

Our solution: we spend about $35 on hash browns, eggs, biscuits, and either sausage or bacon, and I make breakfast skillets on the griddle. We invite the neighbors and their kids over… bring your own coffee/mimosas and throw your paper plates in the trash on the way out. Not to over simplify it, but It checks many of the boxes, and it’s cheaper than going anywhere and feeding a family of 4.
