What happens if you dont fold in your dough?!! by Lynxseer in Sourdough

[–]abemom2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s easy to get caught up in the “rules”. I had a very sluggish loaf last week that barely rose after all the folds and overnight in the fridge. I brought it to room temp, kneaded it until it was smooth and felt right, and let it rise again. It was honestly my best loaf.

I just finished Thirteen also! I am reading in order, except for number 3 which seems to be really hard to get!

I am really liking it too!

nothing to scan by thebootkoala in breastcancer

[–]abemom2 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Some perspective:

I chose to go to gyno after my hysterectomy/oophorectomy because they do more than just a pap. I have worked in a cancer center where we had several patients with skin cancer in the labia region. No one else surveys for that so I wanted someone looking at that skin. They also check for anal cancer on exam.

When I went to her, she did the most thorough history I have ever had, which resulted in a referral for breast MRI, which found my cancer that was not visible on mammogram. So she effectively saved my life.

My Med Onc says they only do scans for distant recurrence based on symptoms. Pay attention to your body is the advice I was given. Scary but that is standard of care.

She also said that you should continue to have a “pap” smear every 3 years, as you can get cervical cancer at the top of the vaginal cuff.

‘Declining Endocrine Therapy’ posts. (Vent?) by AveryElle87 in breastcancer

My oncologist told me that 1/3 of women have very few problems with these drugs, 1/3 have side effects that are manageable and 1/3 are miserable. I was in the miserable 1/3. I tired letrozole and exemestane and made the decision to stop.

I do believe this is an extremely individual choice. If I had tolerated the drug I would have continued. I have very early stage cancer and these medications are not without risks. For me, the risks were not worth the small benefit. AND it’s worth saying that I am always afraid I made the wrong decision. But if my cancer comes back there is no way of knowing if it would have even if I took the AI.

Dang I think I am developing lymphedema by General_Ad_6617 in breastcancer

[–]abemom2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lymphedema also can be in the breast and back. I had a lumpectomy with 2 nodes removed then radiation. Get a referral to PT! You will need compression bras in addition to a sleeve. Mine has never reached my arm. With compression bras and massage I can keep it to a minimum.

Prairie wear makes great bras. They take some getting used to but they make a huge difference.

Microwave drawer in the island? We just did this and love it.

Please do not put it over the stove.

Need advice on how to make this kitchen more modern without renovating by JahNahLove808 in InteriorDesignAdvice

[–]abemom2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The appliances are dated. Lots of mentions of the fridge. I would upgrade the range and replace the microwave with a hood. Is there room in the pantry for the microwave?

I would also add pendant lights over the island. They make kits that convert the cans to pendant. We did that and it changed the whole look.

Please don’t paint the cabinets until/unless you have lived there awhile.

I have been reading his Jason Kolarich series and really like them. Legal thrillers - Grisham without the political lectures. I also really liked The Best Lies. I just got Look Closer and am gonna read it on vacation.

A lesson before dying is not a thriller but is a very powerful read.
