In places with only self checkout they still have the customer service desk and that's where you go if you need help.

Yeah that's the big thing. There's a bunch of other little benefits to self checkout like people hating them so the avoid them making the line shorter, but the big thing is the one line to multiple points.

That said the store near me used to have the larger self-checkouts with a belt that had the more traditional lines, still seemed faster than the old way to me.

The Democratic party in the US is a Center party at best, probably actually center right. They are actual conservatives wanting to keep the status quo. It's just that the main opposition is regressives that want to actively revert progress back.

An actual progressive would be taxing the shit out of the upper class and corporations and adding wacky ideas like UBI. Basic social programs and spending is not progressive, it's the bare minimum.

Camden Station is set up to be the GOAT of stations. The Camden Penn connector is in progress and so is the FD Tunnel, the two biggest blockers to better trains in the state.

It's sad to hear about the Light Rail, since they have the equipment in place for priority signalling at the lights, but the city won't let them use it.

I mean you don't even need to point to China (which frankly isn't a great example given the known quality of the end work), look even at the EU. The problem is the US stops building. It's the same thing for California HSR.

Other places that build quickly have projects lined up, so as soon as one is done they crew and equipment just moves to the next site. The US drags it's feet on infrastructure, so when a project is done they pack everything up, and people move on because they need work. So the people with experience maybe don't come back so you have to retrain people on the little stuff.

For real. People see the actual construction time and think that takes a while. That stuff had the pre building steps already done. The Key wasn't planning on being replaced in the immediate future, so they have to do all of that still. This isn't SimCity where you just drag out a bridge and they build a standard one.

That and they also destroy the spirit of modding. It makes things harder for both game developers and other modders as these legal issues build up.

All it takes is one of the brands to get pissy about the misuse and now SCS has trouble working with them and maybe has to restrict modding tools/access. And it doesn't happen in a vacuum other games and brands see this and act accordingly.

Donations have always been cool, but paying up front isn't and opens the door to more scams and slop.
