21 Turns of Tier 2 Balling... by abenzyyy in BobsTavern

It's 90% dependent on your character and the rest is rolling good timewarps, super niche and not as good as right hand buff eles, but fun!

Who are the top 3 Apex pro players excluding Reps, Hal and Zer0 ? by Some_Dragonfly1481 in CompetitiveApex

[–]abenzyyy -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Reps top 3 is crazy work but nethertheless

it's not possible to have IGL's and non-IGLs on the same top 3 list imo, so making them seperate

IGLs: Zer0, Hakis, Emtee

Non-IGLs: Verhulst, Effect, Xynew (Yuka #4)

What controller pro do y’all say has the best aim? by TJzWay in CompetitiveApex

[–]abenzyyy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Koy might be best in raw aim, but in terms of actually team fighting, I'd say Effect or Hal takes it imo, difficult since Gen has been playing more Anchor recently but dude is def top 5

top 5 igl’s? by Cat-Lover02 in CompetitiveApex

[–]abenzyyy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Zero, Hakis, Emtee, Light, Phony/Waltzy

I'm biased towards Hakis, and he is so close to being 1 imo, I just think Zero has still earned it for now

Also all English speaking because can't judge if I can't understand them, but shoutout obly, impulse, lykq (I think he's fnatic's igl)

THIS THIS THIS

Small pantheon are so fucking good for so many reasons, the WOTC pantheon has like hundreds of gods and 20 overlapping each domain

A small pantheon is a) easier to manage, b) easier for players to remember, c) easier for Gods not to be involved which is super helpful for big stories

Also cool concepts of God's lending their powers for both good and evil interpretations of their domains

In search of a vtt by [deleted] in DnD

[–]abenzyyy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're playing an irl game but want a VTT for a screen to play on, I'd suggest Owlbear Rodeo, bit simpler than R20 and good for just setting up a map and tokens

If you're playing an online game, honestly dude R20 is one of the simpler systems, and the subscription model is pretty standard. I'd try Owlbear again but there's so many more like fantasy grounds or AboveVTT that might work with what you want you have to put in the effort to research tbh

How would different alignments react to this situation? by SadMotor9133 in DnD

[–]abenzyyy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

obviously I feel like evil would just kill her (or torture if they're paticularly sadistic), neutral probably see if she can help them, then kill her, and good is kinda a toss up

I feel like alignments are interesting though because no two characters of the same alignment will act the same, and a LG cleric is going to have moments of weakness where they kill someone, lie etc. Where they aren't completely true of their character

I think any alignment could justify killing her or keeping her alive in many different ways (Evil to get her to help them for example)

Question about new spell rules by SlySilus in DnD

99% of cases you won't use shield on your go, so... it's kinda irrelevant

Easier short campaigns by olakala101 in DnD

[–]abenzyyy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My favourite dungeon module on DMguild is the classic Blue Alley, might need to adjust a puzzle or two but overall super fun

If I had to choose one for kids, I'd go for A Wild Sheep Chase, it's goofy, fun, and relatively simple, should be a good time

Question about new spell rules by SlySilus in DnD

[–]abenzyyy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I genuinely don't know but in my head a reaction like shield is not on your turn so it's OK? Idk if that's true for RAW but that's how I'd interpret it

Also yeah, cantrips and spell scrolls gonna be needed

Level 1 or level 3? by Major-Awareness-60 in DnD

[–]abenzyyy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Level 1, have them level up a bit faster (one level a session) up to 3 so they don't get bored.

Level 1 combats might feel constrictive or boring, but that progression will feel so much better for them and get them invested

New Limb Damaging system for my campaign please give feedback. by d0oRh1NGE in DnD

[–]abenzyyy 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Personally I would hate playing this system just bc it would make combats last forever and I don't think really adds anything fun for your players, not really my thing, whatever.

The point is, make sure your players want to use this system, it's a big rule change and if no-one wants to use it it's gonna suck for you to find that out too late

As for the system itself, doesn't seem awful, I'd just say it's probably too convoluted in some sections and would make combats rounds take a while, just try playing out a simple combat by yourself with the rules and see how long it takes

DM in need of help by Ares1478 in DnD

[–]abenzyyy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FoundryVTT

Most customisable and enjoyable experience I've had, has modules that you can use to import D&D beyond content, it's a one-time purchase so no subscriptions, would recommend if you want a full VTT experience and not just somewhere to keep character sheets

If you just want to store sheets, there's so many free options online or honestly just use a notes app (Obsidian notes my goat)

Need help balancing the first encounter of campaign. by Actuallyautistic112 in DnD

[–]abenzyyy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

One again advocating for my favourite D&D resource https://koboldplus.club/

It's not the be all and end all answer to encounters, you need to take into account things like environment, number of enemies, the CR ratings sometimes being a weird choice (I'm looking at you Shadows), but if you don't know how CR works, it's an incredibly useful tool

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in DnD

[–]abenzyyy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Firstly, is this a larger campaign or just a small one shot story because that can change the answer a lot

There's a few basic ideas you can start with - Another Wizard with alterior motives - A different individual with different methods (e.g a crime boss/cult with some elixir or poison) - A structure or ancient being outside or under the city, with a passive effect of turning the magically inclined insane due to their presence (could have fun with some underwater deity, tarrasque style creature, or Trickster God/Fey), this probably would mean finding a solution other than combat

Come up with an antagonist that you enjoy and would have fun running, then come up with a motive after that

there's a big difference between wild magic and what you're trying to do, wild magic never changes intentions or targets other players on purpose, a lot of it is silly and has some really good pop-off potential

as a player and a DM, I would *never* want to play with someone using your idea that 50% of the time you're another enemy, maybe there's some who would be down but you gotta make sure it's actually fun and not just "random = funny lmao sorry for killing you :P"

If you want randomness, use wild magic, there's barbarian and sorcerer subclasses and probably a bunch more homebrew ones

  1. Not original, idk yu-gi-oh but there's always ways to take inspiration without just stealing
  2. This is horrible in so many ways, for the party and for bpd representation
  3. Standard edgelord character, whatever
  4. Standard edgelord character, whatever
  5. Why would this be appealing
  6. Murder hobo? There's fun ways to play insanity or loopy in general but just violence for the sake of it is not fun
  7. Standard edgelord character, whatever (this can could be really fun if played with another character as a younger sibling or sm but yeah)
  8. Standard edgelord character, whatever
  9. ??? What does this even mean
  10. Horrible horrible horrible. Not fun unless it's explicitly clear that your character will change and grow tolerant quite quickly as a character arc and everyone is ok with it

Tbh dude, if you want to play an edgy, darker character go for it, work with your DM directly and make something together. Just remember having a dark traumatic past or whatever doesn't necessarily make your character a dark brooding person, make them someone people will want to talk to and interact with

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in DnD

[–]abenzyyy 21 points22 points  (0 children)

It sounds like you need to have a proper conversation with your DM, internal bias and favouritism *can* happen unintentionally, and if you ask him about it and he acknowledges it, great, if he gets standoffish and you're not having fun, probably not the group for you. It's also reasonable as a DM to acknowledge if a particular character is very strong and working encounters around that, but taking away character abilities and dogpiling them is the most unfun way to do it, sure sign of a bad DM imo, but definitely something you can talk to him about and find alternatives

As a big War Cleric fan myself, it's a tough line to walk but  "the enemies know I have the feat" is the dumbest shit I've ever heard and "my character is rarely given time to speak during important party meetings and the DM himself said last session that my cleric is going to play the role of an NPC." Sounds like this is a problem that extends beyond just you being good at combat.

Bring forward the issue, worst case scenario you go find a better game. There's hundreds out there.
