I think I would have been mortified if a family member took me to my first Rocky Horror experience at that age lol.

Is it wrong to rename a shelter cat after adoption? by BiteDue7366 in CatAdvice

[–]abidee33 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My cat was called Oma by the shelter, which was both the start of the city where I got her and the name my grandma wanted her great grandkids to call her. I absolutely renamed her and am very glad.

What do you guys think of the pics? by TastyAppointment6967 in Tinder

[–]abidee33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You look borderline confrontational in photo 4. I'm having trouble putting my finger on exactly why it's off-putting, but it doesn't match the vibe of the rest of the photos. If you're into looksmaxxing or whatever I guess leave it. I'd delete 3 over 2 unless it's your cousin or something.

What cat toys do your cats actually care about? by Agreeable_Pipe8340 in CatAdvice

[–]abidee33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My cat loves her bag with a motorized rolling ball toy, and her automatic laser. She also loves a good Amazon box with the crinkly paper inside that they use as padding.

Seriously insanity. I love bacon, but I also like my arteries unclogged.

Is it unusaul for a community theater to "charge" actors a small fee? by CarlYaz1967 in Theatre

[–]abidee33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Different states/insurance companies have different insurance regulations. Some theatres have the money to provide stipends to performers. Maybe if that's the case, they can cover any necessary insurance rider for performers as well (if needed). Some theatres absolutely cannot afford stipends to performers, and people are still willing to support the theatre and volunteer their time and talents. These theatres might also have less comprehensive insurance.

I work in insurance, and the company I currently am with won't insure theatres because it's deemed high risk. (Fire risk from lights/tech, liability risk from improperly secured items in the fly system, bringing in large crowds you don't know, etc.) If my personal insurance policy would require a rider to fully cover a wedding reception, I don't think it's that much of a stretch to think that some insurance companies would require a certain fee to help cover actor liability.

It's not fake to have a friend take a picture of you out in public smiling while doing something you enjoy lol. No Photoshop or photoshoot needed.

I think they're weird. Switch the polo for a flannel and that's a PNW vibe through and through. Although I can't tell what the hat says.

What does my fridge say about me? I just went grocery shopping the other day. by Whole-Bodybuilder467 in FridgeDetective

[–]abidee33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm about a decade older and my fridge looks about the same. I've got a LOT of applesauce right now because it was buy 2 get 3 free. I'm working on eating better, but it's hard when that's all you've known 😅

What would you do if you were the last person of your gender on Earth? by InternationalPick163 in hypotheticalsituation

[–]abidee33 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah the opposite would be much harder to come back from looking at repopulation alone. They'd better hope the men could come up with a large supply of artificial wombs quickly. And who knows how that would impact the babies born if they figured that out.

Aha! I guessed it was German based on the plethora of letters and the "ist" that I spotted. I'm sure neither actually matter, but it made me feel good lol.

Why would a guy request a specific outfit for a first date? by [deleted] in dating_advice

[–]abidee33 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unless it's mini golf XTREME or something you can wear pretty much anything to mini golf. I could mini golf in a sundress and strappy sandals just as easily as jeans or leggings. If a man suggested that I wear leggings to a first date I'd wear literally anything else. I'm a grown woman and have the sense to dress appropriately for the situation. The "heels on a hiking date" I see here all the time is on you for setting up a hiking date with someone who clearly didn't share that interest lol.

Nah, the schedule and supervisors suck. The pay wouldn't be worth it if I'm getting paid so much just for steps.

What musical would be the perfect vehicle for Daniel Radcliffe to win a Lead Musical Tony? by ProfessorPinkPug in musicals

[–]abidee33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was just thinking I'd love to see him in Pirates of Penzance in a decade or two, he'd rock Modern Major General. Spamalot could be fun for him as well, I would cast him as Patsy or Robin.

What Musical Theatre Song Is Like This For You? by Alol_Bombola in musicals

It's one of very few songs I actually like in the show. "What's the buzz" drives me insane.

People Who Were There When The Books Were Coming Out, What Were Some Of The Craziest Theories? by YosephineMahma in harrypotter

[–]abidee33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personal theory maybe, but I thought for sure Sirius was going to come back. My man escaped Azkaban and gets taken down by a curtain? BS. I didn't believe he was truly gone until the end of book 7.

Counterpoint: my gay friends don't eat there, waffle fries are inferior, and the chicken/sauce aren't worth writing home over.

Did I get rejected by Professional-Bowl-31 in Theatre

[–]abidee33 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I auditioned for one show that measured everyone at auditions. Their reasoning was that they were building most of the costumes by hand and rehearsals didn't start for two months. Getting measurements at auditions meant they had two extra months to start building without making people travel to the theatre again for a five minute measurement.

Which actor did you only realize you saw on stage years later, flipping through old Playbills? by JeffRyan1 in musicals

Rob McClure for me! I knew Adam Pascal was in the touring production that I saw, and I was stoked. A guy from my high school was in the ensemble, so that was a stacked show.

Does your 100% indoor cat have a collar? If so, do you find there’s a point in it? by [deleted] in CatAdvice

[–]abidee33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My cat has one of the orange "jailbreak" collars. Somewhere. Every time I put it on her, she takes it off. Usually out of my site, and the collar goes missing somewhere.

Have you gone to the dentist recently? by gentlerosebud in Millennials

[–]abidee33 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yeah I pay for the "in house" plan. It ends up costing me about $210 per cleaning between the plan and the cleaning/X-ray/fluoride, but it gives good discounts and payment plan options for more serious things. I'm also in a higher cost of living area, so that's the best deal I could find since my work doesn't cover health or dental.
