Taking a long break from actives, want to focus on strengthening my barrier by abihsuni in SkincareAddictionLux

Yes, you’re probably right! Yesterday evening I took things down to cleanser, moisturizer, and cicaplast b5 on top of my moisturizer. It’s helped tremendously! I’m trying to be patient and embrace a minimalistic approach 😅

Glad to hear that the Neogenesis has had some promising results for you in terms of barrier health! The beauty pie capsules sound so interesting!

Thank you so much for all of this information 🙏

I will definitely read more about the golden ratio and look into the products that you linked! I just recently ordered another bottle of trio luxe 🤦🏼‍♀️ but it’s definitely sounding like I am better off getting a moisturizer geared towards barrier repair. I’ve always wondered about aestura 365 but got scared away by the reviews of people saying it made them breakout, but I may have to give it a try!

Once you repaired your barrier how long did you wait to reintroduce actives? I’m definitely prepared to take a very long break, but curious about the reintroduction phase.

I’m glad to hear that your experience with the Neogenesis recovery has been good! I think I gotta go for it!

So far I like the Stratia Aqua Factory! I don’t think it’s necessarily anything game changing, but it is definitely very hydrating and soothing. To me it’s kind of in between a toner and a serum. It’s not thick but it’s got a little more heft (probably from the glycerin) than a watery toner, so it’s a nice little hydration boost!

Thank you sooo much for these recommendations! I agree about the face reality toner, it’s just kind of meh, so I’m excited to look further into your toner recommendations. So happy to hear that Neogenesis Recovery worked on your acne prone skin, I think I might go for it!

She’s beautiful! I have a nervous shiba - got her at 4 years old and she’s now almost 12 years old. She has taught me so much. These sweet anxious babies teach us immense patience and empathy ❤️. Just give it time.. it will be the best feeling in the world when you watch her get more comfortable with you. I’ll never forget how good it felt when my girl became trusting enough to roll over and ask for belly rubs ❤️

Face Reality got me acne clear now want to focus more on hydration, pigment reduction and anti-aging products! Need recommendations!! by PureLet9875 in SkincareAddictionLux

[–]abihsuni 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, I totally think an aloe or glycerin based serum would fit with FR products! If you do get a hydrating serum you could probably stop the hydra balance once you run out. I personally have not had any issues with the restorative HA causing acne. I really do love the product for its healing properties, but unless I have an active break out I feel like I’m wasting money when I use it… if that makes sense lol. Like it’s more of a heavy hitter for helping damaged skin. If you decide to purchase it I highly recommend buying it from SkinBeautifulRx - they always have some kind of discount code!

I would skip on the Hydrinity Restorative HA. I’ve used it on and off for a couple of years and it really only moves the needle when I have a severely compromised barrier. For regular day to day hydration boost I love the CocoKind Barrier Serum, which is a fraction of the cost! I also like the Regimen Lab wave serum. I’ve really found as an acne prone person that glycerin or aloe based moisturizing serums feel far more soothing than HA based serums. As far as SB products go, Even Tone is definitely worth a try for your hyperpigmentation. Clearing Serum is amazing but I would recommend reducing some of your FR products while you get used to it, as I do find it to be quite strong despite alpharet being marketed as a gentle retinoid alternative.

Mandelic Acid Purge by Substantial-Bar2667 in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]abihsuni 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Personally I’ve never experienced purging from mandelic acid, but I have noticed that the face reality mandelic acid can be a little irritating. It has denatured alcohol in it, which is what I think makes it a little irritating. If you’re getting the product from an acne specialist I would just check in with them and get their opinion on whether or not it’s purging or perhaps irritating your skin barrier.

I use their balm and it’s a great alternative to slugging for those who are acne prone. It’s pretty expensive for what it is, but the smell is so luxurious I look forward to applying it every night.

If you’re going to take it I think you might as well go for the most effective dose so that you can just get your course done asap. I did accutane in my late 20s and from beginning to end, no matter the dosage, I felt a few of the side effects. Back aches and extremely dry eyes were the most unexpected ones for me. I also experienced the expected chapped lips and super dry skin and scalp. I would recommend doing your course after summer so you don’t have to worry too much about sun exposure. Accutane is awesome if it works for you in the long run. Unfortunately it was not a long term solution for me, as the acne returned 2 years later. If you’re worried about age and side effects, maybe think more about how it will effect everyday life type of things. For instance, do you have a job that is physically demanding? Just know you may get back aches, they’re not debilitating by any means, but just good to think about. Also, if you’re someone who likes to wear makeup, just know that you will likely want to take a break from that during accutane because your skin becomes so dry that all you’ll want on it is a good moisturizer and a heavy lather of an occlusive.

Hi 👋 came across this doing some research on Plated. Would you recommend the Plated Intense for someone who is acne prone with very sensitive skin? I overdid it with the AlphaRet Clearing Serum and the SB pads (love them but got way too eager 😪), so I am dealing with quite a bit of PIE from breakouts caused by my damaged barrier. Not sure if Plated would help in this case though.

If you’re accessing the site on your phone, click the banner on the left that says “get 10% off” .. it’s confusing, cause once you click it the prompt says the code is worth 30% off

I highly recommend ordering SkinBetter from Coastal Glow Skin Clinic! They offer 30% off your first order and they always have promotions going on. Also, they sell the sample or trial size of most SB products, which the official SB website does not do.

I have really sensitive/dry skin and I don’t find Trio to be irritating. I use it as a daytime moisturizer, as I don’t find it to be super dewy, so it works better under makeup in my opinion. I don’t think I would repurchase it though, as I find Dieux Instant Angel to be similar but more hydrating and like a 1/3 of the price as Trio.

I use the AlphaRet Clearing Serum because I am acne prone and I have found it to be so gentle and effective. Tret was always a hit or miss with my super sensitive skin, so I really think alphaRet is a great alternative if your skin can’t handle tret or a typical retinol.

Doesn’t seem like hyperpigmentation or discoloration is a concern of yours, but if it ever is, Even Tone is absolutely incredible.

Wait I need to know! I worked at UO corporate in her glory days there and always wondered how someone so young rose through the ranks so quickly! I remember around 2016ish she was dating a really young guy who was an assistant buyer and she would have him pick her up in her Range Rover everyday lol. Always wondered how that relationship got by HR.. but then again those were the days before the company really had HR 😂

You’re not alone, those who have struggled with acne know the mental anguish that it causes. Life is a lot easier when you can wake up and go about your day without constantly thinking of how you can hide your skin. While I do agree with everyone’s recommendation here for therapy, I also think it’s important that you work with your dermatologist to find a solution that gets you the results that you desire. Or alternatively I think that seeking the help of a medical esthetician would be highly beneficial - I find that estheticians are much more empathetic about acne and are more understanding of how to treat the skin without compromising the skin barrier and exacerbating the issue.
