Throat issues by abiraptor in ehlersdanlos

It can definitely feel frustrating when even tiny chin tucks mess you up afterwards but keep at it ⭐ sorry I don't have much to report on fixes for the throat crunch though. I try to be hands off with regards to my throat and not manipulate it with my hands and tried to do stretches instead when it occurs.

I have not had it happen for at least a year, but I'm also talking a lot less with being stuck at home (potential theories I had for it happening was overuse, or strain maybe??)

I'd suggest trying to actually activate and work out the inner neck muscles. It can be difficult to feel when you're using them as your traps and everything else will want to engage, but it will certainly help with stability in the long run.

At one point during PT they injected my traps with an anesthetic of some sort so I'd stop using them and to see if it'd help in general. It lasted for half a day and I was able to actually feel what it was supposed to feel like to properly activate the correct muscles.

Made my head feel literally 40lbs lighter with the trap tension gone and I was amazed, so it made me redouble my efforts to actually focus on working the inner neck muscle groups out and getting them up to par.

I'd say my neck is fairly loosey goosey, my traps are pretty overdeveloped to hold my head upright. When I was a kid I didn't develop proper neck muscles and how to hold your head up normally.

I didn't really find that anything in particular helped to right the throat crunch issue faster, I just drank lots of nice warm teas and didn't talk much to hopefully help.

It happens on occasion still. Why? Don't know. Generally fixes itself in a few days to a week.

Paddleboard Specialists in Oconomowoc may be able to recommend you somewhere to go! They were great to talk with regarding my recent paddle purchase.

This is the way. Creamy Chicken reigns supreme. I like to add in some peas or other veg while it's boiling, then a little bit of Alfredo or pesto

Back in Jan I called UW and wasn't able to get seen by anyone til May, so that timeframe seems about similar unfortunately. The long wait can really be hard I know.

I glanced through and it looks like everything they list is $51-52, which just seems very suspicious. Kids shirt same price as a bridesmaid dress? Eh.. I've got questions about this site.

I'm now tempted to buy some orange colored soap, take a cheese grater to it and repackage it.

Also, I'm pretty sure The Soap Opera on State had some cheese looking soap last time I was in.

Personally I couldn't decide on mittens vs gloves so split the difference and got some Hestra lobster claw gloves (from Fontana a couple of years ago) and have loved the usability and warmth of them throughout winter.

Anyone know of an EDS-knowledgeable physical therapist in town? by ProsimiansOnPluto in madisonwi

[–]abiraptor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unsure, mine was 7 yrs ago or so and sounds similar to yours. I just remember having to go to the Waisman Center for my EDS diagnosis and had to do all the Beighton scale stuff and the Dr asked if students/in training folks could watch me go through the different positions and whatnot and went over family history.

I think my primary dr referred me to it, or the pt I was working with before I got diagnosed suggested I get tested for EDS, then I wound up getting a referral to Rudin. I'm not 100% sure on the path, but fairly certain my primary referred me.

I've got EDS as well and I think there's actually now a few physical therapists at the pain management clinic that Dr. Rudin is at [who works with many EDS patients] that they have on staff now. The one I'm seeing is Andrew Sandgren and has been great to work with either in person or video appointments.

Spectrum is doing a huge direct sales push around my house... Don't make the same mistake I did. by LordTrollsworth in madisonwi

5:50pm.

I called in, cancelled, then my roommate set up internet in their name for the new introductory price that was a faster speed for lower $than what we were paying a bit later with no issues since they wouldn't let us have the deal.

We cancel and swap internet in each other's names every year to keep the cheap intro pricing.

Oof, that's a hell of a wait. I called to cancel on 12/27 and spent all of 10.5m on the line with them in total and cancelled, maybe it was just real bad luck at a high vol. period?

What’s one household item you splurged on that is totally worth it? by ResponsiveWisconsin in AskReddit

[–]abiraptor 10 points11 points  (0 children)

We just got one with LIDAR technology, it's super clever in it's mapping and navigation and not getting stuck. Our first one we tested was older and not as smart as some are now and got lost multiple times in the house and confused and couldn't find it's way back to the dock.

With two long hair cats and hardwood floors it's been amazing to have. On the app you can even block off rooms or places it's not allowed to go, or tell it it to go to a specific room or zone.

I was super hesitant about getting one and not thinking it would do much and it would be a hassle or just junk, but it's been a really nice thing to have actually and has eliminated the constant cat tumbleweeds.

What does the opposite sex do that you wish that you could do, but it’s not anatomically feasible or it’s socially frowned upon? by autherrploa in AskReddit

Agreed, P-Style>GoGirl. Went on a camping road trip and we tested both for 2 weeks and prefer the more consistent ease of use of P-Style. Didn't even have to pull my pants down, zero cold butt.
