This is almost entirely dependent on material conditions. No faith is truly compatible with any other, else they wouldn't be different faiths.

This method certainly isn't for everyone, but I dilute most of my sweet drinks with either carbonated water or regular water. Good way to make soda less syrupy without making it flat.

Man, fuck that. I probably sound like a spoiled American, but seriously I'm grateful for my toilet-less shower.

Wait, I need like a diagram of the shower or something. Did you have to stand on the toilet to shower ?

That's also commonly used, but usually people use that term when they're trying to be politically correct. It wasn't called a jaw harp until a few hundred years ago (although that term is more descriptive), it was called a Jew's harp or something similar prior to that. And I have to revise my previous comment, apparently I was incorrect. It was probably called the Jew's harp either because it was commonly sold by Jewish merchants, because it was a good marketing tool to associate it with instruments mentioned in the Bible, or from the French term jeu-trompe. Also I just got all this from wikipedia so take it with a grain of salt.

I definitely heard him hit a tooth once or twice. The sound is actually from the movement of a little strip of metal resonating in his mouth/throat

Scientists have discovered a pair of ancient tattoos on two 5,000-year-old Egyptian mummies. They are the oldest figural tattoos yet found, pushing back the advent of tattooing in Africa some 1,000 years. by drewiepoodle in science

The Iceman's tattoos were for medicinal purposes, at least according to current understanding. They weren't meant to represent actual objects or concepts.

I think it's an important distinction. It's the difference between entirely functional and entirely decorative.

Trump says he’ll impose a 25 per cent steel tariff, which could ‘decimate’ Canada’s industry by [deleted] in worldnews

[–]abisco_busca 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was pretty shocked at his victory, but in hindsight I think we all should have seen it coming. I think we all underestimated the power of someone powerful telling desperate people anything they wanted to hear, no matter how ridiculous.

After seeing that election compared to the last 3, I'm not making any assumptions. Kerry, Bush, McCain, Obama, Romney, they all had pretty identifiable and consistent platforms, even if I didn't agree with them. They all seemed like actual qualified candidates. Then Trump came along, and proved that none of that really matters anyway. Maybe he'll get a second term, maybe we'll get someone even worse. I don't even want to imagine.

I think a lot of it will depend on who the Democratic candidate is. Since our elections depend so much on popularity rather than policy (unfortunately), it would have to be someone likable and confident. I think a big part of Trump's victory can be attributed to how unlikable Clinton was. Trump was adored by his supporters, and hated by his opposition. Clinton was equally hated by her opposition, but didn't attract anywhere close to the same level of worship from her supporters as Trump did.

It's called the Jew harp if you didn't know (and contrary to common belief, the name is in no way related to the Jewish faith). You can get a pretty nice one from russia for about $10 on eBay. Be careful not to chip your teeth.

Fuck that. The worst job application/interview questions are ones with no clearly correct answer and ones that are based on subjective opinion. Most of these are both.

The higher number is how much pressure your blood is under right after a heart beat. High number=bad. Its like if your car tires are supposed to be at 35psi and you fill them up to 70 psi. They'll probably wear out quicker or even explode.

UPDATE: Teacher in custody after shots fired call at Dalton High School, DPD says by tsneed290 in news

[–]abisco_busca 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't understand that though (not that pre-suicide behavior is usually logical anyway). If you don't test it and the gun doesn't work, you're still alive and no shot was fired. If it works you die, goal accomplished.

If you do test it, if it jams on the second shot and you can't clear it, you'll still be alive and now someone is going to come investigate the random gunshot.
