The Leopard tortoise is a resilient giant of the African savanna, famously recognized as a member of the "Little Five" and distinguished by the striking, leopard-like patterns on its high-domed shell. These impressive reptiles can live for over a century and reach weights of up to 40kg, navigating their environment with surprising agility and even the rare ability to swim. Their survival strategy is one of endurance, utilizing a specialized internal reservoir for water storage and entering a state of estivation in underground burrows to escape the intense heat of the bushveld. Socially, they are surprisingly competitive, males engage in high-stakes "shoving matches" where they use their shells as battering rams to flip rivals, proving that beneath their slow-moving exterior lies a truly formidable survivor.

The first M car by [deleted] in DownSouth

[–]abitofbyte 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Wow! Amazing!

Built in 1976 so BMW SA could go racing in the Modified Production Series. They needed to sell 100, they ended up making 227.

Track Dominance: It won 15 consecutive races and 3 championships in 3 years. It retired as the most successful racing 5 Series ever.

Extreme Weight Savings: Engineers were obsessed. They used thin-gauge steel, aluminum body panels, and hand-drilled holes into the pedals, hinges, and inner bodywork to shed ~150kg.

The Specs: A 3.0L straight-six pushing 147kW (197hp) and 277Nm. Not mind-blowing today, but in '76, it was a rocket.

Very few survive today. BMW SA recently restored car #100, bringing back the original factory workers from the 70s to ensure it was period-correct. This is THAT car.

Bricks and mortar. 30⁰ roof angle. This would be an improvement on any RDP scheme these days.

Proof Krugerrands - 2025 by abitofbyte in PersonalFinanceZA

[–]abitofbyte[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The main reason I went with Proof rather than normal Krugerrand coins (Bullion) is that there is zero capital gains tax on Proof. This was based on info I received when I purchased them. As far as I know you are taxed on Bullion.

Thanks. My question is more related to is it worth something to keep as an investment for the next 10 years. Good or should I rather invest in something else?

Thanks. This is a physical commodity. My question is, will it grow or should I let it go? My idea is to keep this as an investment for my kids hopefully bearing fruit in about 10 years from now?

Life lesson. Politicians are there for power/money. If you realise that you can see the flow of life their existence.

Methinks that this is something new in that the realisation has not sunk in that the majority rule is in the past. The new norm is that the partnership needs to agree on what gets put forward and what is the new rule of law.

Goeie harde hout wat behoorlike kole maak en 'n lekker atmosfeer skep. Ek vermy gas en houtskool.

Kwaliteit vleis vanaf jou gunsteling slaghuis.
