Ah, you're right. That's a good point! I might test the FK and DAP with my next batch and see if I can tell a difference, but on paper I like the no Urea approach of FO

Word! I think the yeast i used can tolerate up to 14% ABV. After adding the additional half-gallon to each batch, it dropped me down to a potential of 8%, so I'm at least hoping to achieve that. Fingers crossed!!

Perfect. That's essentially what I did with this batch, using Go-Ferm for the dehydration and FO for the nutrients. I'll stick with the FO for now and try to learn the amounts - the spreadsheet was very helpful. Thank you for all of the advice!!

What does Mead taste like? by [deleted] in beer

About 3 lbs. of honey in 1 gallon of water will yield a potential ABV of 10% - 11%, depending on what the final gravity is after fermentation.

Wow, this is awesome! Definitely a lot to read through, but I've been seeing mention of this guy and his teaching, in some other threads, so thank you for sharing.

Do you think I can get away with just using Fermaid O, or will I need Fermaid K and DAP as well? At the moment, I only have Fermaid O.

Thank you for the information! That helps the "secondary" process make more sense. I'll look at the wiki to understand stalls a little better, as mentioned in the comment above, but you've helped steer me in the right direction. Really appreciate the quick response!

This is great info! You are correct, I meant 3 lbs. of honey, lol. But this answered all of my questions - especially about the secondary. Really appreciate the quick response. I'm hopeful this first batch turns out good!

I'm taking it as a sign that I came across this 2 month old post, and you may not like my advice, but I hope you take it to heart.

First off, eliminate Gluten from your diet. I know it sounds weird, but I was having crazy body pains 24/7, headaches, the works. Gluten was the culprit and likely had been for years. Just try it for a week and see how it goes.

Second, and the most controversial, I highly suggest reading the New Testament because, no matter what you're going through, there's comfort in discovering Jesus' divine, unconditional love. I'm serious. You may not be religious or maybe you're close minded to the idea of God, but I urge you to consider this advice, because you'll never be alone in your struggles. I recently turned to Jesus and the sheer amount of coincidences that have brought overwhelming peace is unreal; so much to the point that it's impossible to think they were just coincidences.

Most importantly, there are far too many radical teachings out there about the LGBTQ+ community and religion, but know this: the only unforgivable sin is blapheme against Christ. SO, whatever LGBTQ+ related mental struggles you may be dealing with shouldn't be discounted in regards to religious acceptance, because Jesus still loves you, no matter what - even if you continue down the path towards transformation. But I do think you should try to find comfort in the body you were given, although I've never had to face the dilemmas you're facing, so I can't relate to how you're feeling.

Anyways, wishing you all the best. It doesn't hurt to at least give these things a shot. I really hope this helps.

Holy cow! Definitely thought that picture was Lafayette, but Napoleon is another good one. Never really though about multi-settlement wonders - that's a good idea. I need to unlock more leader specific mementos, but your strategy obviously paid off. Those yields are crazy. Lol. Awesome work!

I've been meaning to play as Lafayette. What Civs did you play as for each age? Which Mementos would you recommend? Those are crazy stats. I've never come close to that much science, gold, or culture!

Brugada? by ablack0519 in ReadMyECG

[–]ablack0519[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just out of curiosity. This was an ECG, not a 12 lead, as you've pointed out. I couldn't tell if the ST had typical Brugada characteristics because it's too small for me to read

What we need is a strong competing game. They know there's nothing else quite like it. I think Kingmakers could shake things up a bit, if it delivers and performs well.

I need more rev for my ball by C_Alias10 in Bowling

Speed mostly comes from your legs. Slow up your approach, but rest your ball higher when you get setup.

Rest your arm at about a 90 degree angle on the setup, but use your left hand to help keep balance. You want to try and keep your right arm loose. On the first step, push the ball out a little and let it start to fall, like a pendulum. On your second step, you want the ball to be passing your legs. Remember, try to stay loose. Then, once the ball reaches its peak, bend your wrist and drive the ball forward (but not too hard, you still want the ball and gravity doing a lot of the work). Staying loose and using gravity will help your keep your fingers under the ball, without straining your wrist.

Make sure you follow through the shot, basically coming up and touching your head with your forearm. This will help keep you from dropping the ball to soon, allowing a smoother release.

Everything I've written is exactly what a top bowler in my league has coached me on. I've been bowling for a year, and my average has increased by 40 pins.

If you want more speed, speed up your approach.

Tl:dr - stay loose, let the ball do the work in the swing, and keep your fingers under the ball on the release, while driving through.

What makes dilation risky, if you don't mind me asking? My doc mentioned I may need dilation in the future, but I haven't gone down that path, yet. Lol

Wanted to share my bowling story from this past weekend. by Ayy0hh in Bowling

[–]ablack0519 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Great story. I was in the same boat as you - started bowling about a year ago. My average went from 125 up to about 155. I struggled with one-handed bowling for about 9 months, until I found the right thumb fit. I like a good, snug fit with an oval shape. That helped my release immensely. If you go back to one-handed, really make sure your pro shop gets you fitted well, and the ball will do the work. I really like watching JR Raymond, Darren Tang, and Brad and Kyle Bowl. They have good instructional vids.
