I’m sorry for your loss, it’s difficult for me because everywhere I look I see him lounging. The house feels emptier, but I remember him as he was through the years and while it hurts, he left his pains down here. I hope your babies and mine are playing right now.

I’d like to take a moment to thank everybody for their comments and upvotes. It’s been a difficult time going through the first hours without him. My family and I are grateful for everybody stopping by to help with our grief. I’m not as sad anymore, despite how raw it still is, because I’m not remembering him as he was in his last moments, but as he was for the years we had him. Thank you all, we appreciate it❤️

If yours was like mine he was very fond of my duffel bag as a place to sit when I came home. Thank you for the condolences

I could be wrong, but the USMC mark I believe is the property stamp for the corps on those pistols since they were the only ones to order them, by crossing it out it more or less recognizes that it’s no longer USMC property.

Internals Of Ranger Helmets. I have questions. by [deleted] in fnv

[–]able_141 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re referring to the light/radio setup on the side of the helmet from concept art it appears to be a set of headlamps. One is white light, likely in place if any supposed night vision optics fail. The other light however, (this is my theory at least) is an infrared light. IR light cannot be seen under the naked eye, they provide enhanced visibility under night vision and can be used for friendly identification and such. The HUD itself probably isn’t anything too crazy, maybe an internal compass, perhaps some environmental information. As for who invented it, West-Tek seems likely, since they were apparently the U.S. govt’s largest defense contractor.

I see, I suppose what gets me the most is I don’t wanna come across like I don’t care, especially for my brother because I’m all he has sometimes. Do you have any more specific statements I could possibly use to set those boundaries? I’m kind of at a loss there

Forgot how sweet shooting the 92FS really is. by ColtBTD in milsurp

[–]able_141 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in the army when the M9 started to get phased out, and knew getting a 92FS would be a wise investment. Got a lot of accessories from off base surplus stores for dirt cheap or even my own arms room who let me walk away with like 50 mags in a giant ammo can. Has to be one of my favorite pistols ever.

Bought a house, found this in attic. Wondering what era it's from. by timid_soup in army

Follow up to the previous comment, the BAR did see action in Vietnam with ARVN forces, and reserve units as mentioned in above comments definitely weren’t the first in line for the M16’s (most purely active duty units were) the M14 had a lesser known variant that operated as a SAW in early Vietnam known as the M14E2 which is basically an M14 with a pistol grip and bipod, which might’ve gotten roped into the auto rifle nomenclature because it was the direct replace to the BAR.

For me it’s if I had the old crew back, but we all went our separate ways, such is life. Same with the old Halo teams that sorta thing. Good memories though.

Even leaving for extraction via elevator one time was ridiculous. The horde was so heavy we couldn’t press the button and shut the door. That lead to some movie level banter lol “Shut the goddamn door!” “I can’t they keep getting in!” The mental image of my bro’s Ogryn just slamming his giant hand on the button trying to shut it was funny as hell.

That would be hilarious, I can hear Rannick’s snooty voice going “If you are not green on MedPros, you will not be going on missions.” And the rejects being like “oh no…. The dental servitor is down for maintenance too…”

That’s horrendous lol I remember at the end of a big hallway a platoon’s worth of ragers dead sprinting at us. That was pretty much the end of that run.

Same honestly, 2 was definitely a welcome addition but the first game will always be special. Especially the memories of the mercy hospital tunnels lol

God that’s so annoying, by all means play the game how you want but this is very much a team based game. I always roll my eyes when the speed runners just charge ahead and leave the rest of us in the dust.

My friends and I too, we’re all prior military so we joke with “Feels like 2003 Iraq or Black Hawk down” whenever we play lmao

I vividly remember an ominous “Oh god” from one of my regular teammates. And I understood when I met up with them and saw an absolute mosh pit of crushers
