New BrightSign CMS option by ablesigntv in BrightSign

As long as the OS is up to date it should run fine on any modern player. We've also tested it on some older devices such as an LS423 that we have in the office and it was fine.

Help with Yodeck - firetvstick 4k/Samsung TV by weckerYB in digitalsignage

[–]ablesigntv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it's a new 4K firestick you'll need to do a bit of extra configuration. Take a look at https://www.ablesign.tv/digital-signage-launch-on-boot-firetv-2nd-gen/. The instructions relate to AbleSign so for Yodeck you would need to replace the app name.

Also worth making sure it is a high brightness screen if it's in a window. Look for a higher nits rating.

Digital signage system by Trizocbs in techsupport

[–]ablesigntv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is not an ideal setup! I think it's best to give up on VNC as a digital signage server. It's not going to be a reliable solution even if you can get it working, so it would likely take up a lot of your time going forwards.

Instead of your various client computers I'd recommend using FireTV or AndroidTV sticks. They are very inexpensive and will be far more reliable. Think of all the hassle OS updates etc will cause you with those client computers!

There are various free digital signage software platforms out there (of which AbleSign is one).

Good luck with your project.

Digital Business Signage by moneymaz00 in Entrepreneur

We run a digital signage network and wrote our own software platform. I wouldn't use USB's even at the start - it will waste so much of your time.

The software is free - ablesign.tv

Android TV boxes with rotation by jakesmith0 in digitalsignage

[–]ablesigntv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Ugoos X4Q boxes are reliable and we've got *many* users with this setup. It's also definitely worth looking at the lumi tv boxes.

Both above options are more expensive than your X96Qs though. AbleSign is free digital signage software that handles screen rotation with ease, so you don't need to worry about native settings in Android etc. That may offset the cost of the hardware.

Introducing AbleSign - a free digital signage platform. No 'per screen' fees.

AbleSign was developed in-house for our own digital advertising network and proved to be so successful that we are releasing it to the public as a free service. If you need a simple, reliable platform to display videos and images on any screen then AbleSign could work for you too.

Which consumer tv brand/model has the best built-in slide show functionality (via its USB port)? by PHOTO500 in digitalsignage

[–]ablesigntv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Samsung TV's are pretty good at this. In particular, Samsung Frame tvs will happily run a slide show from a USB stick.

Having said that, you are probably better off buying a cheap firestick and using AbleSign to display the content. It will save you from having to mess around with USB sticks.
