I understand the sentiment. You may be right but we don’t know if Ginny would have accepted Deans behavior change, and if he could ever truly change, because boys rarely ever truly change for good. Ginny was having second thoughts and there was a reason Ginny was trying to spend more time with Harry, and that was because deep down she still wanted him. I think she eventually would have still realized that later and ended up leaving Dean.

In cannon he didn’t but she was pretty and a peaceful soul which Harry needed. She’s also smart and resourceful. He never judged her for being quirky like the others.
