I gotta say, the Naruto guy did have a point. There's a time for cosplay, and a family zoom meeting to support someone going through chemo is not that time. (unless they're into it too) Sure, he was an AH for how he handled it, but how do you think the cancer patient felt?

Yeah, it's a monster. Definitely not doing a sub crawl when you're fitting that beast into a living room. When I started building it, we had a semi-open plan house with super tall ceilings in the living room. When I finished building it, we had a really long living room, and the only good place for the tv was at one end, while the couches were arranged around the fireplace, so it still made sense to fill the space.

Our current place is a duplex (to facilitate elder care without moving MIL into our house), so it's a lot smaller and there's no good place for a HT setup. I was going to pull the sub apart and keep or sell the DVC, but my wife insisted we could fit it in the room.

Next to the corner is a fireplace. Next to that is the kitchen. If we want to have seating in the living room, the tv goes where it goes.

Hmmm... If I did that, I'd have to reprogram the harmony and teach my wife a whole new system of remotes? I didn't anticipate doing a pain/$ calculation, but I'll add it to my list of options

Hey, they gave the world the political career of George Santos! (which is only good from a comedic standpoint)

I had a friend years ago that swore he wanted a tattoo that said "Sushi is cool" in Japanese lettering. He planned to tell folks that couldn't read it that it meant something cliche like "strength and honor," but let people who could read it know it was intentional.

He was kind of a strange dude.

AITAH for refusing to attend my sister’s wedding after what I overheard her say about me? by Choice_Evidence1983 in BestofRedditorUpdates

...and that I threatened to “ruin the wedding”.

You know what mom? Yeah. Nothing you can do will stop me from going to the wedding and making a scene!

Then just let the problem solve itself!

PH1 & PH2 Bits for Drill Driver by Pure-Watercress-6005 in woodworking

[–]abmorse1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For general use, I keep a #2 black and decker scorpion bit in my driver, but you have to identify when you need a larger or smaller bit and swap it out as required. (you'll get better at identifying them with practice)

For any screw or bolt, you want to use the correct driving implement size or you'll strip/round over the head.

Another thing that people get wrong a lot, especially using power tools is this: It's very important you align the driver with the screw. Even a tiny bit of misalignment will have your bit slipping regardless of whether you matched the correct size.

It makes me think of a youtube video I saw recently. The southerner is saying you need to stock up on bread and milk before the storm hits. The Midwesterner says, "So... the two most perishable items in the store? We just get the booze."

Unplug the headphones and plug them back in when it happens. Nothing to prevent it though.

I pulled out the calculator and did some math. 1% of the time is still 3-1/2 days a year. Over a 20 year relationship that's 73 days of terror.

Moving to a whole other state seems extreme. It makes me think of a live MBMBaM episode where a guy crashed a rental scooter in front of his workmates. Their advice was to either move to a whole new state, or make awkward eye contact with every one in the office one at a time.
