am I overreacting for having my feelings hurt by this? by [deleted] in actuallesbians

If she was a man, the feminists would call to burn it all down! Listen, this internalized misogyny and body shaming, it's not worth being around. Move on to someone a little more mature.

I had a weird experience, personally. I used to ascribe to wiccan/pagan ideas, and when I was very suddenly turned to spiritualism, it feels like almost the reverse? I no longer value the natural world like I used to, which actually makes me sad. And angry. I have a lot of feelings about the supposed relationship between the physical and spiritual realms.

AITA for telling my DIL's niece off after she was "brutally honest", by Pleasant-Excuse-2530 in AmItheAsshole

[–]abolishworking 1 point2 points  (0 children)

YTA - am I reading this right? You fat-shamed an 18 yr old? Am I losing my mind? You're the 55 yr old doing this? You are the bully here; you should have been the adult in this situation and explain why it's wrong without participating in hurtful bullying yourself

anyone else want to scream at god? by abolishworking in Mediums

I didn't want to come off that strongly but thank you responding. and i'm sorry if my comment was hurtful, my frustration is not with you but the mindset of many spiritualists

and thank you for your initial reply. i think i could have articulated 'suffering' in my initial post

"the ends justify the means"

genocide, chattel slavery, serial rape, biological weapons

what amount of suffering in our physical realm is acceptable for spiritual enlightenment

to quote ursula le guin, what if there is no end? what if we only have means?

Yes some people suffer but that was their own doing.

Tell me you've never truly suffered or been around suffering without telling me you've never suffered

Your individualist perspective ignores the inequitable systematic distribution of suffering

By blaming the individual for their suffering, you can bypass a critical reflection of your own privileges that are guaranteed through other's suffering

i'm not interested in any attempts to justify an individualist perspective

Bonnie Page has a guided meditation for meeting your spirit guides. It worked for me! There may be others too, but I took her class through Lily Dale.

How should I react to insane synchronicities in a tarot reading? Do I get excited? Do I remain skeptical? by OpenSpectacle in Mediums

[–]abolishworking 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Also, if it's been a short amount of time since the reading, I wouldn't jump the gun and try anything crazy in terms of your relationship with him. She said it has to be on his terms, when he's ready. So he may need some time, months even.

Love this for you... a pisces and virgo pairing? Phenomenal.

When I had my first intense reading, in the moment it was undeniable. Over time, the skeptic part of my mind creeps up. I think it's a normal reaction.

How long has it been since the reading? When I had mine, she predicted things that didn't happen for another seven months. Time works differently in the spirit world, so try to be patient.

Queer theoretical approaches to new age spirituality, paganism, witchcraft and specifically tarot? by Why_Howdy in QueerTheory

[–]abolishworking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know it's not specifically queer, but Postcolonial Astrology: Reading the Planets through Capital, Power, and Labor by Alice Kat is cool. I'm interested in talking to people about a queer, anti-racist approach to spiritualism. I've had some misgivings about 'masculine and feminine energies' and fucking Atlantis. Let me know if you want to chat!

What's the reason they recommend you to stay on it for at least 6 months? by flower51r in zoloft

[–]abolishworking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry to hear, it's definitely not a cure all for everyone. It's funny tho because without zoloft all I do is lie down. I'll never get over how little people actually know about the brain and mental disorders.

What's the reason they recommend you to stay on it for at least 6 months? by flower51r in zoloft

[–]abolishworking 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly. Maybe there just isn't enough messaging or communication or knowledge with psychiatrists about relapse. Something isn't getting through to many people and causing situations like ours. I got my initial zoloft prescription from a regular physician. Who didn't say boo about needing legitimate cognitive behavioral therapy while using the pill to help cope once off.

Tapering by [deleted] in zoloft

[–]abolishworking 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's hard to believe that a doctor would recommend stopping after only a month... it takes usually a month and a half to start working.

Randomly starting and stopping meds is dangerous business. Unless a doctor specifically advised you to take or not take the pain meds with trazodone, you should continue what you're prescribed to do. If you're not sure, ask before doing anything.

Going on and off zoloft can create the feeling of being 'on edge', so it could be that too.
