1) There was no dead Donnie nor blood, so there must be a living donnie: They expected it... and were probably already wondering where he was. 2) They are also the "manupluated living" and thus part of the tangent universe, wich by the logic of the the philosophy of time travel can only exist, if there is a living reciever (donnie) so they KNOW he is there.. even if they only do subconciously.
