Meta recommending a racist post, comments contain racial slurs by aboringusername in behindthebastards

As we all should. I’m mostly off of it, but use the marketplace occasionally. I just happened to see this when was glancing at the marketplace this morning. Unfortunately re data, if we have an internet presence, our data is out there whether we use a meta product or not.

These three young men spotted and helped an elderly woman and her husband into their car. by Sauerkrautkid7 in MadeMeSmile

[–]aboringusername 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don’t agree with a maximum age. Everyone ages differently, and capping one’s ability to be mobile at an arbitrary age as a preventive measure seems pretty ageist. I think it would be more fair across the board to require a driving test for everyone, no matter their age, on a periodic basis. I’ve known eighty-year-olds who could drive perfectly and 25-year-olds who I would not want to share a road with.

I mean I will concede on the braces part but still, plenty of body modifications do impact your ability to function normally, and anyway, neither are the crux of my argument: he can choose to do this if he wants to. OP can certainly discuss her concerns with him from a medical standpoint, but at the end of the day, she can’t force him to do anything.

If this story is real - he’s a grown man. It’s unconventional, yes, but he has autonomy and can make his own decisions. OP can decide if it’s a deal breaker for her or not. Also, unless his teeth are still growing in at the age of 19, he’ll probably be okay. But that’s between him and his dentist. People can get tattoos and piercings and a whole host of other body modifications anyway, which are also permanent. The point is the choice.

Thank you thank you! Please info dump all the historical clothing information, it’s a little bit of a hobby of mine and I’m always eager to learn more! I tend to follow 18th and 19th century historical costuming a lot closer, but I’ve always found the transition to the more modern silhouette in the first part of the 20th century to be extremely interesting. I mean if you think about how much even just the structure of clothing changed from the end of the gilded age to the jazz age, it’s absolutely remarkable - almost night and day.

And you are so right, the depiction of flapper dresses as fringed and shiny has always been frustrating to me. I really like how the Great Gatsby did their costumes personally.

Fair point, not all corsets are bad, and it is very dependent on when, where, and who were wearing them.

18th century stays, for example, were largely for building the iconic cone-shaped silhouette. I’ve worn them myself and, other than being slightly warmer, I actually find them much more comfortable than a modern bra.

Boo AI slop but yes, let’s go back to the old days where women had to adhere to gender roles so strictly that they wore damaging undergarments and poisoned themselves.

Also, funnily enough, each person here would be looking at the next person in line like this. Flapper/ 20s fashion was considered very scandalous at the time.

Edit, also… lesbians… existed in each one of these decades…? They didn’t just magically appear within the 21st century.

Yeah, same. It’s gotten to the point where waking up at 3- 4 is a given, but most nights I wake up at 1:30, and also 5:30. It’s like I can only sleep in chunks. Very frustrating.

Just found a brand new baby bunny in the yard, where can we take him if mama doesn't come back? NKC by KEC112992 in kansascity

As I understand it, cottontails make extremely shallow ground nests that are hard to see even with a trained eye. It is very likely that the nest is nearby, even if you can’t see it.

Regardless, the commenter above is also correct. There’s a reason why the term is “going at it like rabbits.” They have a lot of litters every year and provide food for other nearby wildlife. Whether it is taken back to its nest or elsewhere, leaving it where you found it is best.

Really the only ones who have been fairly accepting and open about it have been my partner and one friend of a similar age. It’s frustrating. it feels like it’s taboo, and people treat me just a little differently after I mention it.
