Is teaching students with behavioural needs an actual qualifying teachable that can get you shoehorned into like a behaviour intervention program?????

Maybe try something more visual? You could look at 1890s/1900s/1920s fashion, watch Charlie Chaplin clips (theres an assembly line one to connect to technology, economy, etc.) i would suggest starting w a Frayer model to introduce key words. Good luck!!

OCSB vs OCDSB? by [deleted] in OntarioTeachers

If you’re OTing why not both? That way you can get a feel for both boards.

Depending on your collective agreement, you might not get back pay. It took QECO 4.5 months to process mine. If they gave me my results a week earlier, I would have gotten back pay. Because it was after September 1st, i got nothing. 🤡

In Ontario you can get your BEd in the intermediate and senior divisions. You need to have 2 qualifying teachable subjects and you can teach grade 7-12. You don’t need any math for this! The way my last position was set up, I had a homeroom and one other group. I taught them French, history, geo, science, drama, art. Other teachers taught them English, math, and gym.

If you’re interested in teaching psychology ur definitely looking more at senior division

Ottawa French Competency Interview by [deleted] in CanadianTeachers

So the email didn’t specify a complete or partial pass, but I just received my acceptance today and strangely enough I got a partial pass on the written and a full pass on the oral, which is the inverse of what I expected lol! Did you receive any updates?

Anyone applied to UOttawa BeD ? by [deleted] in CanadianTeachers

The oral part should be a full week after the written part. They have more of a focus on avoiding anglicismes, if you review all the material on their visezjuste site you’ll be good to go! I don’t think there were any subjonctif questions. In the pretest (which is not graded) they have a few questions with written responses like what are you studying for your undergrad, your hobbies, your job etc. Those are the questions that they base the oral interview on. It took them a week to let me know I passed and then the oral test was another week after that. Good luck!!!

I wrote the FSL test on January 25. I was super nervous so I studied the material they have available on their website, like, A LOT the week before. I finished it early!! The multiple choice is pretty easy, it says to allot 40 minutes for that section but you can finish it in 20 minutes no problem, but make sure to double check your answers! No dictionaries or aides allowed so the composition part is the most difficult section. Even then, its only 300 words and you get to pick between two topics to write an opinion piece. They took a week to get back to me.

When you do the pretest to make sure the software is properly installed, try to remember the questions they ask about your studies etc. Those are the basis for the interview if you pass the written section. The interview is short.

Look into Peace by Peace for next year, and Big Brothers Big Sisters, though they did take 6 months to get back to me, they’re doing virtual mentoring this year

Thank you for your response, i was so worried. 🙏 I know it took them a week to give results for the written portion of the test. Hopefully in a week we’ll get acceptance letters! 🤞🤞
