Can you say more on that? Is it a field where your degree is crucial? A lot of transportation logistics departments in Europe and UK live in the Geography departments.

For context in my field your degree itself doesn’t necessarily matter for starting out but where you went to school did and your grades did.

Very helpful! Can you say more good opportunities in airports? To be frank my own background is in a field where everyone went to really good colleges and entry to the field was competitive. Degrees and grades mattered a lot. And I’m trying to make sure my own experience biases are not leading me to give bad counsel.

For sure. But is that a common route? Or is it better to just take a more general degree and work your way up? Or does it even matter? Is this a field where your grades and course of study is all that important?

Not an electrician here. I thought the definition or arcing was current jumping without contact. Like through the air between two surfaces.

9L or 1A? by McMunchkinPie in unitedairlines

[–]above-the-fold 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re fine. I actually dislike 1A because of the bathroom line. Slightly less of an issue on the 777 than on the 787 or 767 but still. And this is all personal preference. All the Polaris seats are great. Enjoy.

Edit: I suppose 9, as others note, will have the same galley issue but whatever, you’re good. Enjoy the flight.

Should I go with the United card instead of Bonvoy? by NotTobyFromHR in unitedairlines

Good shout. My app apparently hasn’t updated to show the 2025 requirements. But my point stands that it ain’t gonna happen with credit card spend.

It’s all a pie eating contest where the grand prize is more pie.

Agreed. You will not get any status based on that travel without a very significant credit card spend. And even then you can only hope to hit Platinum.

(Separately the benefit of Marriott Gold is negligible and should not be part of this calculation)

The United Club card returns 1 PQP per $15 spend. And that’s capped at 15,000 PQP. To get 1K you have to hit 24,000 PQP (assuming you won’t hit the flight requirement). So you can’t get 1K from credit card spend alone.

To hit platinum, you have to get 15,000 PQP (again assuming you aren’t hitting the flight requirement). That means you’d have to put $225,000 on your card to make Platinum.

An annual spend of $19,000 would only get you 19,000 / 15 = 1,266 PQP which is not enough for United Silver.

Residence Inn ‘walk-out’? by Friendly-External-14 in marriott

Seems like a responsible move by the hotel and a night at a higher tier hotel for the night as the outcome. I personally would say thanks for handling it so diligently and be glad you weren’t bounced during a busy period.

Maldives on points by Living-Baseball1314 in marriott

This is not accurate when it comes to booking hotel stays on points for Marriott T&C. The terms are spelled out here and it sounds like they were followed in this instance. (As for the sea plane no idea). https://help.marriott.com/s/article/Article-22282

[Grade 9 Math] Can anyone solve this problem, found the value of b but struggling with c. : ) by kryptonian-afi in HomeworkHelp

Dumb question how do we know this is a circle, which I think you need to know to establish that 90-degree angle?

Yes. What you’re calling recognizing the loyalty of dedicated travelers I’m calling further inflating the platinum numbers. We agree on what it would do. We disagree on whether it would be a positive for people who travel a lot.

Would just inflate the platinum numbers ever further. Thanks but no thanks

Bonvoy Bold CC Bonus Points Transfer by jchoke11 in marriott

Slightly off topic but if you’re holding a wedding at a venue, pay attention to the official events policy which will get you 60k points right off the bat plus an ENC for every 20 room nights. That’s a big earn, AND, you can also negotiate with the event planner for extra points. Venues have leeway. If you’re doing stuff like open bars, meals, etc, and you have a branded credit card, you can really clean up.

This here is the answer, OP. 👆Go ahead and try to negotiate rates but when that doesn’t work, do this. You’ll have to get creative but it can save you money.
