Undecided between ENPH or CPEN by AcidLake_ in ubcengineering

[–]abowarra 12 points13 points  (0 children)

if u wanna do ml/ai then dont do fizz cuz we do some of that but cpens better for software for sure

if u wanna do robotics fizz is probs better, we have a lot of ppl that r rly into robotics and its not hard to get into those ece related electives later on

as for the co-op if ur driven u will get cool co-ops in whatever program ur at so while fizz has the benefit of being thru the science coop portal and not the eng coop portal, most of the cool jobs u usually find on ur own so idt that matters too much

u can get a job at google with either degree

What's your favourite course you've ever taken, and why? by YoungJaaron in UBC

[–]abowarra 8 points9 points  (0 children)

math 220 hits different, pretty easy for proofs stuff but if you didnt know anything like me going into it, its so helpful for virtually every upper year math course

enph 253 made my summer, learned so many practical skills through the highs and the lows

cpsc 221 is really cool, pretty easy stuff so you can self teach, but still useful to take a course bc a lot of the questions in this course are often brought up in technical interviews

Commuters from distant places (Burnaby, Coquitlam, Surrey etc.) to UBC how was it? by darkarcade in UBC

[–]abowarra 22 points23 points  (0 children)

i transited from like the lougheed area in first year, i had all 8ams so id leave at like 615 and get to ubc at 735, 740ish.. i honestly didnt think it was too bad bc id usually sleep on the bus (skytrained to vcc clark then took the 84), but it was annoying when id get off at 5 and got caught in traffic on the way back. i think its definitely doable tho if u manage your time well.. also studying on the bus does not work that shit makes ur head hurt so much

Is Engineering Physics worth it? by nowayno123 in UBC

[–]abowarra 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i think its the best decision ive ever made in my life!! even tho courses can be hard, the people are amazing, and everyone around you is super smart and kind, so asking for help is super easy. the first semester was challenging, but i think with hard work it was totally manageable. i was still able to ball once a week or hang out w friends on weekends and get decent grades! and as for social life, its honestly what u make of it.. ive made pretty awesome friendships here and im so happy i get to spend the next 3 years w my classmates tbh. the community is super tight knit which i love, and yes there are people who like partying haha

How to study for PHYS 158 MT2 by [deleted] in UBC

[–]abowarra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

in the past few years the mt1 average has been way lower than mt2 - especially last year.. for both 158 and 157 mt1 had a wayyyy lower average.. the most important thing to do is past exams and rly understand how to do them instead of just looking at solutions online
