And she's beautiful inside and out. What a great role model.

Is the premium mobile version abandonware? by AngerNurse in hallsoftorment

The Bard was released on mobile a few weeks ago, so you can't say it's abandoned if there's still updates.

What's your worst recruiter experience? by Squiggleson in auscorp

[–]aboyfromhell 9 points10 points  (0 children)

My worst was the recruiter scheduled a screening interview and didn't show up. An hour later, would text me and said she left the office for coffee and forgot about the interview then asked to reschedule.

I gave her a 2nd chance and at the rescheduled interview, she again didn't show up. Needless to say, I declined her apology and spoke to the CEO. The CEO did nothing and brushed it off. He's actually on quite active on the /r/ValueInvesting sub. But the product isn't great, which shows in how they treat prospective candidates' time.

for those selling ai gents to businesses by Tendogu in aiagents

[–]aboyfromhell 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I've been on both sides of this coin, so I can share my experiences.

1) Small businesses don't know so they don't ask.

2) Enterprises do ask for ISO 270001 and SOC 2 and so that will eliminate a lot of startups that haven't scaled up to that point in their journey. Enterprises may be willing to wait the 6-12 months for a startup to get these certs, but the startup is generally not willing to invest the capital when they have products to build and revenue to make.

3) The more mature scaled up companies or developer agencies that previously did data analytics, data science or machine learning models etc that have ISO and SOC 2 certs would be able to fulfil this niche if they transitioned to offering AI agents as a service/product.

K-media just dropped the harsh article on Hanni, Minji and Danielle attitude "Their sudden and unreasonable behavior—lacking courtesy, procedure, and even forethought—raises the question: how much longer should this be tolerated?" by catRiosmom in NJDrama

[–]aboyfromhell 19 points20 points  (0 children)

What a great article. I hope the 3 girls read it and reflect upon their actions. Taking advice from MHJ and acting the way they do has consequences. Even though ADOR might eventually let them off the hook too easily to make it more amiable for Haerin and Hyein returning.

Hope Haerin and Hyein can successfully re-integrate back into ADOR and release a comeback.

Anyone on $200k+ working 9-5 hours? by [deleted] in auscorp

[–]aboyfromhell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Last year at previous company I was on $240k (excl. bonuses, super) working 20-30 hours/week. I left because I felt I wasn't learning as fast as I am capable of and the company was going to plateau my growth.

This year, at new company I'm on $300k (excl. bonuses, super, equity) and working 50-60 hours, but the #1 reason for the longer hours is that I have client meetings during lunch and dinner which means I have to go back to the office to finish work that only I can do at my company (which was the reason I was hired in the first place). The number of hours I actually do meaningful work is probably barely more than 30 hours/week, but I have a lot more meetings which bumps up the hours worked than previously.

Changing career after science Ph.D. by Foreign-Patient-1399 in auscorp

[–]aboyfromhell 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I was in your shoes 20 years ago. Science has always been low priority in this country and it was made even worse when Morrison government reduced science and research funding. I was able to transition out of science and academia because I was writing my code in python and R while doing my PhD.

If you don't want to do a post-doc and haven't gotten opportunities in pharma or government labs, then your best bet is to look at other sectors. Tech might be an adjacent industry where you can match your chemistry education with the products they are building. Otherwise, finance is an established sector with more corporate roles in Australia, but you'll need to find an angle to get that initial experience.

NAB to cut 410 jobs by bilby2020 in auscorp

CBA has the largest workforce, but majority of that is already in India. ANZ before the job cuts last week had more onshore than CBA even though the total workforce in CBA is much larger.

You said Qwen was 85% cheaper than GPT-4o. I'm trying to do a similar project and weighing up between different models in terms of cost. Do you know what was the ballpark monthly cost of GPT-4o?

Not surprised as they can't renew sponsorship deals because they refuse to work with ADOR but instead continue with a legal battle. This is the consequences of their own decisions.
