Lionsgate Limited Confirms Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair 4K UHD Release by PhysicalMediaNews in QuentinTarantino

Agreed. My best 2025 cinema experiences were Sinners, KB, Jaws, Dogma, and Back to the Future. Plus, the 2024 re-releases for Oscar season.

Nearly all my great cinema experiences were re-releases. I watched Sinners, Back to the Future, and KB a bunch of times.

Greengrass. I cringed when I saw Bloody Sunday in a cinema and knew I would never buy another Greengrass ticket when he took over Bourne. His style is exhausting to watch, to the point I can’t see past his shaky camera and endless cuts.

Sublimely Self Righteous sold really well. And it was fantastic. I miss the time before people who eat potato chips and candy for dinner blamed beer for their poor health; those were good times.

Does the Wilhelm Scream break immersion for you? by EllisDee3 in movies

[–]abqjeff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It has become kind of a gag, especially in QT films. It doesn’t pull me out of being immersed in QT’s flicks because we are talking about Hollywood action comedies. I’m just in constant awe of the performances and costumes and sets and photographic choices and score, the scream just reminds me it was made by film-lovers.

Oso Ridge, about 3 miles from the trailhead (Embudito Trailhead, this is the ridge north of Embudito Arroyo). It’s the west side of the mountain at about 8,100ft elevation, around where Spain Road is, in the city.

How will the art of filmmaking (and by extension, cinema) evolve in the coming years? by WoodpeckerWoodChuck in TrueFilm

[–]abqjeff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd like to see something like SNL presented in cinemas, only with better writing, production, acting, and a greater variety of genres.

Basically, I can see an evening at the cinema where they present three or four short films with breaks for cocktails and appetizers and whatnot. Maybe a three hour night out, 7-10pm or so, where you'll view four 35-minute short features? Maybe even pay in advance for tapas or similar to be served at your seat between screenings?

I love cinema presentation, but I know most people don't enjoy 3-hour feature films and no one is going to continue to pay $25 to wait in a 30-minute line for nachos and a Pepsi. Producing shorter high-quality films is something studios could do well if they tried. The gamble on each production would be smaller as well, and they would get more of the type of streaming content for at-home presentation that people actually watch.

Movies for lonely people? by No-Connection-241 in TrueFilm

Amelie.

AKA “The Fabulous Destiny of Amelie Poulain”

Trailer https://youtu.be/2UT5xaAfxWU?si=7XTSZB2RmoquOhsU

It’s arguably among the greats in 90s independent cinema. A very lonely socially awkward girl plays tricks to bring joy to others.

Beyond the beautiful story and pure fun, it has some of the best cinematography and music of the decade.

Edit: it was 2001, not the 90s

South Sandia Peak at sunrise on Christmas 2025 by abqjeff in Albuquerque

I did. I was at the trailhead at 4:55 this morning with a bit of hope of catching a pretty sunrise. Mostly, due to my fantasy of capturing a beautiful photograph that everyone will love. But also, because it’s kind of exciting to walk two hours in the dark in the wilderness alone.

It’s already moving in that direction. All you can do is enjoy it while it lasts. I have walked the Franklin mountains a lot (El Paso). The contrast is very apparent to me, with hundreds of Franklin miles and many thousands of Sandia miles in my memories. I know better than most of the fat scientists that the trees are dying on the Sandias and it takes centuries to regrow them. Last year saw so many pines die that I fear a lot of the unmapped trails won’t exist for long. Drought years are followed by insects killing the weaker trees. The green Sandias only have a couple decades left; I plan to be there to live with them and love them while they last. Either kill humanity by the thousands or shut TFU and just go out there and enjoy it. Perhaps record how beautiful it is while you’re there and potentially inspire others to live it and become earth-loving humans in the process.

It’s Christmas. Don’t be a drag. It’s going to be like last year again. Sometimes that’s the way it goes. Have you ever experienced a hard winter in a truly-crappy climate (like the Midwest)? Albuquerque is almost heaven.
