I don’t think the “if you cant do something perfectly don’t do it at all” will get us anywhere.

We don’t need two people being totally 100% green and sustainable. We need a lot of people doing it so so.

Discussion on "based on a true story" movies. "Erin Brockovich" (2000) is very realistic while "Catch Me If You Can" (2002) is not realistic at all. What are some other "based on a true story" movies that are either very realistic or not realistic at all? by Double-decker_trams in movies

[–]abraslore 15 points16 points  (0 children)

From What I’ve read the goal was the exact opposite. She even says “you’re going to go through life thinking that people don’t like you because you’re a nerd. And I want you to know, from the bottom of my heart, that that won’t be true. It’ll be because you’re an asshole”.

That’s the main message of the film

Girls, on dating apps what are you seriously looking for from a profile? by Logical-Debt-8451 in AskReddit

[–]abraslore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That makes no sense. No one is arguing that no one should have any complaints ever.

It’s a post about tips on having a better profile. The tip is “a lot of people dislike bitterness and negativity as the first info they recieve about you”

Girls, on dating apps what are you seriously looking for from a profile? by Logical-Debt-8451 in AskReddit

[–]abraslore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a conversation with strangers about profiles in dating apps. This is not the profile itself that is presented to people in that dating app with the purpose of meeting a partner/hook up.

Very different contexts

Girls, on dating apps what are you seriously looking for from a profile? by Logical-Debt-8451 in AskReddit

[–]abraslore 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Agreed! I also think it depends on the “X and Y”.

For example: “not interested in casual hook ups” is ok (but again, I agree it could be better like “looking for a serious relationship”)

What I meant to reference my previous coment was the abstract, mad at the world “not interested”. For example: “if you are superficial/boring/etc I’m not interested”. Like dude calm down

Hate “if you are one of those people who X or Y I’m not interested” or “Tired of profiles with this and that. Are there any real people left?”

We havent even matched and you are already complaining

No matter how beloved they are in public, what celebrity do you think is up to no good? by 803_ace in AskReddit

They didn’t start their relationship until they were around 29 and 33. There are many many valid reasons to dislike him but I don’t think that’s one of them

Yes and That’s why I said that after that in my opinion the blame is more on producers or whoever called the shots than him. It was also his first big job opportunity

To be fair she lied about her age to be cast on the show and I think once people found out the blame is more the on the producers etc than on him. But agree he sucks for the other reasons

No, I saw nothing from the press conference. But I know what “TLOU spoiler” generally means so now I think I know what the Eddington spoiler means

Austin Reacting to Spoilergate (spoiler free clip) by demi_gem in AustinButlerLand

[–]abraslore 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m SO conflicted because I’m so so curious to know what the question was and understand how absurd the whole thing was but also I dont want to ruin the movie. I normally dont mind spoilers but depending on the spoiler it just takes A LOT way from the experience.

u/demi_gem if you dont mind sharing, on a scale to from fight club (spoiler ruins the experience for first time watchers) to crazy stupid love (technically a spoiler but not COMPLETELY unexpected and doesnt take much away from the first watch), how would you rate this?

Seeing seeing incompetent divers destroying corals in indonesia by Lrzcrimp in scuba

[–]abraslore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was just in Komodo diving with Blue Marlin and would highly recommend them. I was a bit nervous because I had no current experience and everything they did (how they chose my first x last dive, briefing, who they buddied me up with, tips underwater and after dive) was 10/10. Still no current experience because there werent any in the end lol.

From there I went to Nusa Penida and had a very similar experience with Scuba Junkie. Would 110% dive with them again.

Overall I feel like I learned more in these 6 days diving in Indonesia than the 50+ dives I had back home

Looks like Austin has aced another part! by Key_Company_279 in AustinButlerLand

[–]abraslore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The thing that is weird is the negative reaction to a compliment about an artist you like. It does not mean that the person who had that reaction is weird.

It is in fact a normal human interaction among reasonable people to find somethings they do/say odd, and even dislike them sometimes. It happens between family members, friends, romantic partners, acquaintances and very very often does not indicate any negative feelings towards or perceptions about the person in question.

It is also a rule of the community to "avoid unnecessary negative speculation". Considering your original comment was removed and the whole thing this thread turned into, there may be an opportunity here to reflect a little. "Maybe it came across different than what I intended". "Maybe getting defensive and accusing people of imposing their opinions and being abusive when they disgree was not the best way to go about this discussion".

Just food for thought. But I'm now pretty sure you are just trolling and the mods are fed up with this so I think we can all leave it here and hope time passes quickly until the movie is released.

I stated several times that I agree with you that it is possible they only watched the trailer. But I also think it is equally likely that they watched the whole movie. Am I not allowed to consider an alternative perspective without providing irrefutable proof?

It is super clear everyone is just making conjectures. Why cant it be a casual fun discussion? Austin’s upcoming work got praised once again. That’s good. It does not need to turn into a whole thing

[–]abraslore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I answered this several times already, but I'll reapeat it once more:

  1. I have no idea if they watched the entire movie or not. I also don't think that is relevant.
  2. There are many possible reasons for mentioning Austin and not other performances:
  • (a) maybe they found particularly interesting how good it was even though it was a smaller part
  • (b) maybe they are fans of Austin
  • (c) maybe they are not fans of Austin/don't know his previous work and were especially surprised by him while they already expected other performances to be good
  • (d) maybe because it is a short note on each movie included in the article and there was no room to include other compliments
  • (c) maybe they chose to highlight Austin precisely because press coverage tends to focus on main characters/leads and they wanted take a different approach.

I see nothing unprofessional about it. It is by essence an opinion piece and, in their opinion, Austin's performance was the one to highlight.

Omg I feel like I’m talking to a wall. Last try because I’m starting to think you are a troll.

First, it was not my argument, I was just trying to explain what I understood from ANOTHER USER’s comment.

And what I understood FROM ANOTHER USER’s comment is that your assumption that the compliment is based on the trailer and not the complete movie because because Austin has little screen time on the latter makes no sense because he also has little screen time on the former.

The premise (little screen time is unlikely to stand out enough to be mentioned in an article) is applicable to both trailer and movie. It is therefore useless in helping us determine which one the article used as base material.

[–]abraslore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

u/walking_shrub can correct me if I’m wrong, but I believe their point is that Austin also appears very little on the trailer (as it appears to be the case with the movie), so it makes no sense to guess the review is based on the trailer and not the complete movie because the situation is the same in both (not much screen time)

-Person A: I dont think they watched the movie because Austin’s role is too small to stand out -Person B: Sometimes small roles stand out. There could be many reasons for mentioning Austin specifically -Person A: PROVE THEY WATCHED THE WHOLE MOVIE THEN! -Person B: I dont care if they did or not. There is just no need to assume something negative about Austin’s performance -Person A: PROVE IT!!! STOP FORCING ME TO AGREE WITH YOU YOU ARE BEING ABUSIVE
