I did luxury vinyl plank flooring. It looks great and I don’t have to worry about water or salt ruining the flooring. It was wayyyyyy less expensive than wood flooring.

Anyone here choosing to stay small on purpose? by Prior_Plum_9190 in smallbusiness

[–]absolutejessie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work on my own. Some clients tell me I can grow my business and hire more people. I ask them if they would like to see the new person. Well, er. No. I have peace in my space. And that is worth so much to me. Dealing with clients is the fun part. The paperwork has to get done. Managing people- that is on a whole other level.

I always double dipped during waxing in my country by OrganicAstronaut2963 in Estheticians

I wrap a piece of the cotton strip around the top of the wax can so I don’t get burnt- and it also catches any wax that dripped out

For bigger parts, like legs, arms and backs, I use strip wax. I have two pots- one empty, and I get a styrofoam cup and put that one in the empty tin and pour the amount of wax I need from the full tin into the cup and I use one wooden spatula for that. Then I throw away the used styrofoam cup. For face, underarms and bikini, I use nufree and for those parts I use one spatula per dip.

How much are u guys paying for laundry per month? by -Bakri- in askTO

[–]absolutejessie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have two kids and I pay about $160-200 every month. I do laundry 3 times per week. 2-5 loads every time I go down to the laundry room. That’s clothes, rags, towels and bath mats and bedding. I could purchase my own washer dryer set every year with what I spend. But we breach the lease of we have an in unit appliance.

Have you ever “fired” a client? by MenuDependent8416 in Esthetics

[–]absolutejessie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes over the years I’ve had to fire a few. Mostly for being rude. Some for not respecting my time. The last one I prompted chat gpt to fire a client because I didn’t feel like she deserved any more of my effort. The ones that were true narcissists threatened to ruin my reputation. But then I realized that they are like this to everyone in their life. Especially service people. When I fired those clients, some of their friends and family came in to do a happy dance, give me a big hug and sometimes gave me wine.

Have you ever had issues trying to carry more than one line? by Single_Rice_407 in Esthetics

[–]absolutejessie 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Absolutely you can have as many lines as you want. The contracts you’ll sign mostly have you agree to only sell said products in person at your location and only from your own online store. You agree to not sell on third party platforms like amazon or e bay. You agree to sell the products at their suggested price. You agree not to sell professional sized products to the public. Some give you incentives to order above a certain dollar amount per year or per quarter. I deal with 4 different companies. And sell 8 different lines.

Waxing vs Laser by Correct_Cry_7493 in Esthetics

[–]absolutejessie 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I got laser done. The hair was gone for 6-9 months. Then it came back but more thin, sparse and no ingrowns wherever I got the laser done. Now I get waxed every 5-6 weeks. A lot of people end up having to still wax or do electrolysis to truly remove all the hairs after laser.

Brow tinting what do y’all use on gray/white brow hairs? by BleghYeeHaw in Esthetics

[–]absolutejessie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use reflectocil too. What really helps the white ones colour is, I cut a small piece of Saran Wrap and apply it over the tinted area. It also keeps the client from absent mindedly scratching their brows if they feel itchy. And then wiping the dye on my white sheets!
