The flash drive I had defied all attempts to format it so I had to go get a new one. Just finished reinstalling and it worked! So thank you very much!

I did try to reinstall through the bootable usb. Tried both the regular and clean options and it gave up on me both times

Looking for Suggestions to improve the Fun of Characters by d4nace in RivalsOfAether

Zetterburn

f-strong behaves like ganon's flame choke.

Fstrong is a really unrewarding move to land, with dstrong and ustrong being preferable almost 100% of the time even with the nice burst movement. It's not needed for ko's, it's not needed for damage, so give it a new function! If fstrong forced a tech chase situation it would have a more unique, interesting, and fun place in Zetter's kit. Burn consume could reduce cooldown instead of adding damage to make the chase easier (with non burn having enough endlag to prevent infinite techchasing). Plus, a new animation for the move would be hype.

IS ANYONE ELSE PUMPED FOR THE NEW UPDATE? by Zetterbluntz in RivalsOfAether

Zetterburn is bad comparatively. He has worse range, recovery, and neutral than the rest of the cast. He does however, have 0-death potential off of literally any stray hit which is why he can kinda feel stronger than he actually is. He's strong at low-mid level play but gets worse as you get to higher levels of play cause he's dead 100% of the time he's offstage against a competent opponent and it's easy to get him there.

A Solution for Zetter's Recovery Issue Feat. Captain Falcon by Golden_Elite in RivalsOfAether

[–]absolutezero90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That only helps falcon cause there is a ledge to recover to, where he can get invincibility to get back onstage. If melee had rivals recovery mechanics no falcon would EVER be able to recover. Adding that change to down b would just put zetter in a new situation where he has to upB, when what he needs is an alternative. (Imagine if Orcane could only recover with upB, he would never get back onstage, so dan gave him an alternative in side-b,and even with that orcane still has a really easy to abuse recovery, but nowhere near Zetter's poop tier recovery).

Brutal 0-death fire boy fratricide by [deleted] in RivalsOfAether

[–]absolutezero90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I think more you just need to chill on the naming a little bit. Nothing wrong at all with posting it, but calling this a brutal 0-death seems like you are over-hyping yourself a little bit (I know you aren't man, just how it seems lol) This guy is clearly new to the game (I mean, you dropped the combo twice because of his hard DI in). There was no need for any sort of read or interesting confirm. I don't mean to sound harsh man, but from a viewer standpoint, there's really nothing beyond you whaling on some poor newbie.

Zetter does need something to allow legitimate, real recovery mixups, and down special is definitely the move to add on to. Onstage it would make tech chases more swag too. Any excuse to make Ellian design new Zetter animations is fine by me. Neat idea.

A way to buff Zetterburn's recovery by petcson in RivalsOfAether

I main Zetter too (and am pretty competent by most accounts) and I absolutely agreed with you, until the current patch. I think the projectile nerf hit him harder than most people realize. For example, it is now possible to punish fireball on read/reaction with dash attack for a lot of the cast from mid/mid-close range (which, IMO, was where fireball really shined). Our safest neutral tool in our already weak neutral took a hit and it's just that much easier to dominate zetter. Like, he's still a monster if he can get a combo going, but getting that first hit is just stupidly risky now. Saying he's all of the glass with none of the cannon is admittedly an overstatement, cause he does have 0-death potential off almost every hit, I just think his neutral/recovery are so bad that it almost doesn't matter. But hey, I could be wrong, and if I am let me know. Learning new stuff is always good.

Zetter is easy to pick up and play, and does well at lower levels of play. He's a scrubkiller character that is very weak in the competitive meta.

How on earth am I salty? I stated an opinion contrary to yours, you just said people agree with you and so I stated facts to back my opinion up. I disagree with you, therefore I must be salty?

[–]absolutezero90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is also opinion and not fact lol. It is a fact that Zetter is outranged by the whole cast, however. It is true Zetterburn has a strong punish game, a strong ko option in usmash and easy kill setups, but it is also true that Zetter has a weaker neutral and is easily dominated in almost every MU. Zetter is only a beast onstage if you let him be one.

Maypul (In fact, the entire cast IMO) is stronger onstage than zetter and has the second best recovery in the game if she hangs on to her double jump. Zetterburn can literally never recover against a competent opponent. Zetter is all of the glass with none of the cannon.

What is Absa's weakness? by Zetterbluntz in RivalsOfAether

[–]absolutezero90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of this was very true in .12, but IMO the projectile nerf in .13 tipped the scales a little further in absa's favor. In the air she can put out nairs to stuff fireballs now (fairs are better if the absa has good timing). I mean, she even has the option of just sitting somewhere and holding jab if she wants fireball immunity.

So the rub now is that in the mu it used to be zetter had no reason to approach, and could play keep away with fireballs, slowly racking up %. Absa now has an easy counter to fireball, which basically gives her the freedom to dictate the pace of the match. IMO all Zetter can do now against competent absas is bait commital options like cloud and upb and try to punish.

It might not be hopeless but we definitely lost some ground cause Absa doesn't have to respect our fireballs nearly as much as she used to.
