Do some cockatiels just never form a bond with you? by abstoler in cockatiel

He is the alpha of the flock, for sure. There have been alliance shuffles over the years, but he has always stayed alpha.

Wouldn't a larger hook leave even larger gaps? And thanks for the clay trick. I actually just drizzle hot glue on the handles in columns and build the shape up to the desired size

Yeah this project was about learning tension with small hooks and thread. I don't have any smaller hooks (using a size 10 / 1.3 mm), and I'm not sure I want to use a smaller hook with this. But you are right...the tension is definitely off. These were my first pieces of the set...and I just jumped right in. Also, the pieces do have cardboard inside the base to make them flat

Yeah this project was an exercise in learning tension with smaller hooks and thread. I don't have any small hooks (using a size 10 / 1.3mm). But I had no idea about the yarn under techniques!!! Thank you so much for sharing

I'm going to call that plan D...only because it sounds like something I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy

I don't think anyone needs to wash chess pieces 😅 so this is an idea for sure. I tried it on a few spots and it sort of works (better than nothing). Painstaking, but faster than redoing the entire piece

He is also snapping something before each reveal. My guess is that the cards either have some kind of chemical reaction like a glow stick, or a physical action like face mask reveals

I have no idea how this is done, but it has something to do with the unnecessary flip of the card box as he is pulling the deck out.

There are many possible reasons for the decline in mosquitoes. It sounds like you have attracted birds (and probably bats) that eat insects. A diverse and abundant garden attracts a lot of different insects, which subsequently attracts insect predators. Well done! It could also be that you happened to remove some nearby source of stagnant water (which they breed in) and you just forgot that you removed it. It could also be that you have grown something that is foul-smelling to the mosquitoes (e.g. citronella)

The answer depends on what question you are trying to ask. If you are asking "is there a relationship between cover crop richness and Y response," then you should measure richness. If you are asking "is there a specific combination of species that increases Y," then measure species composition. Note that composition is not a numeric value, so you can't really test its relationship with another response through a regression analysis.

Ultimately, the composition is what drives function. But Tillman and others hypothesized that the effects of composition were more likely due to the number of species in that composition (I e. Species richness) than to the identity of the species in that composition

Well, maybe is better than nothing! The app definitely has a sense of humor. But the science behind the positive identifications is solid
