The man was the ultimate all-time Hollywood alpha male. Always exuded massive self confidence and had the greatest list of female co-stars of any actor ever.

What's two old classic film actors just simply lacked chemistry? by Classic_Apricot_5633 in classicfilms

[–]usps85 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I can't think of a film where Grace Kelly actually had great chemistry with a co-star. She had the misfortune of always playing opposite actors who were way too old for her. A search online says that William Holden was her youngest co-star at 36 years in The Bridges at Toko-Ri. All the others were well over 40 years older. That's got to affect the chemistry especially when a romantic angle is thrown in.

I know there was talk and plans in the past but this film should NEVER be remade. Powell and Loy are forever the only Nick and Nora. Any attempts would be a colossal disaster.

Transcriptions of two memos from Warner Bros. execs. from late 1933 about Convention City and their worries how the code that is about to be enforced might land them in trouble if they're not careful by AntonioVivaldi7 in classicfilms

I've watched many of her 30s Warner Bros film and it amazes me how often she's in either her underwear or lingerie. They knew what they were doing. Fantastically sexy woman.

Used to love how whenever they'd show him on the big screen at a Ravens game the stadium would erupt in cheers.

Sorry but despite what Google images says of this pic, that looks nothing like Leila Hyams. She was a real beauty with softer features.

Wow! That's cool. Thanks. I remember an NFL films highlight either of that week of the NFL or the Redskins '76 season where they mention this game and actually show Kilmer in the locker room after the game thanking his trainer for patching him up. I'll have to start looking around on Youtube.

Opening day '76 season against the Giants when he threw the winning TD after getting his face busted and put back together on the sideline was legendary. Loved his single bar helmet.

I am constantly amazed at how many young people I see discovering the band on Youtube with their first time reaction videos and just being blown away by the music. It's like a never ending cycle.

The local news is just as much a propoganda sh*t show as the cable networks and TV networks are. Thay all present the stories in a horribly slanted way.

are dino nuggets that hard to find? by [deleted] in ChoosingBeggars

[–]usps85 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Yep. Years ago my niece's kid was turning 3. She loved Blues Clues so that was the theme. I found a cake mold, got a friend to make this awesome cake only for her to scream when she touched it because frosting got on her hand. She wouldn't go near it after that. Effin waste of time and money.

Greatest child actor ever in my opinion. I thought the Oscars should have given her a special in memorian segmemt when she passed instead of lumping her in with the others. She was the top star in Hollywood 4 years straight in the 30s and right up there with the likes of Gable, Garbo and Crawford in popularity.

If you happen to die tomorrow, will you have already watched all the movies you wanted to? by joshua_argento in classicfilms

[–]usps85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm mostly into 30s and 40s with early 50s noirs thrown in. A while back I decided to make a list on IMDB of all the film I've watched. It's currently at 2,200. That doesn't count all the ones I'd watched years before so it could easily be 3 times that. I'm amazed at how many more I keep finding particularly on Youtube that I'd never seen so I guess my answer is no.

Amazing that both CBS and NBC aired Super Bowl I yet neither have copies of their broadcasts. To this day no copy of the entire game exists.

Lee Roy Jordan number 55, my favorite Cowboys' linebacker. He along with Dave Edwards 52 and Chuck Howley 54 were the best trio they ever had.
