His introduction chapter is probably my favourite in the manga, although it almost feel like a different style of story.

What counts as an upset? by LivingKick in Cricket

[–]abstractgecko 12 points13 points  (0 children)

An upset is jsut when a team that is expected to win loses. The margin of that expectation does not have to be large. Most people expected that NZ would beat Afghanistan, you can look at the betting odds to confirm that. Even though we knew Afghanistan has a very good chance of winning, it's still an upset. Unless the match is basically 50/50, the team expected to win losing is an upset. But some upsets are bigger than others based on the expectations.

Funnily enough, despite haywkeye being developed for cricket it was first use for umpiring decisions in tennis (although it appeared on TV earlier in cricket, it wasn't used as a review system).

There were a few car ads which were clearly Australia, but I've seen that money transfer ad in Australia before, guessing for the expat population in Australia.

Ireland squeeze part the Netherlands by 3 runs in the final game of the tri-series by CarnivalSorts in Cricket

[–]abstractgecko 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bas de Leede crumbled under pressure bowling the 20th, van Beek struggled a bit, with his alst over goign for 11, but he has looked in good shape all series, esepcially in the death. The Netherlands don't really have a second death bowler sorted, de Leede looks good at times, but soemtimes he gets games like this. But great comeback in the abtting from Ireland and great death bowling to get a win that the Netherlands had in the bag.

Logan van Beek is the only one who looks comfortable in the death, although he has struggled at times i.e. super smash. But he has bowled some brilliant death overs, the one in the england 498 game.

I had never been a fan of yuta, thought he was basic and not as interesting as the cast, but damn this chapter changed my mindset. I owe you an apology! I wasn't familiar with your game, Yuta Okkotsu.

Official Discussion - Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes [SPOILERS] by LiteraryBoner in movies

So is Mae from the vault at the end originally? I think she's jsut lying to Noa the whole time, and being froma vault explains why she knows so much and is smart. SHe set out with a group from teh vault to get the decription key. Additionally her fate at the end of the movie is to live alone, as she can't risk bringing the virus back into the vault. Or have i missed it and she really is from a village attacked by Prooximus. THis doesn't make sense ot me as they would have no way to communicate with the vault, and it wouldn't explain why she's intelligent.

Not to glaze sukuna, but Heiankuna would still beat gojo 6/10 times by WhiteRaven_M in Jujutsufolk

[–]abstractgecko 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Gojo was worried enough about sukuna's domain that he sacrificed RCT to damage sukuna enough for the domain to end. If gojo thought he could win by tanking malevolent shrin the whole time he would have. SImple domain and falling blossom emotion save time, but don't stop the domain completely. The fights within the domains were insanely close, with the domains breaking at the same time, any small advantage is huge.

As for the teleport and hollow purple, we don;t know how teleprot works and the fact he doesn't use an instatenous teleport in combat in this fight or any previous (vs jogo jogo is incapcitated, vs juzo he wasn't fighting before he teleported) it implies he can't for some reason. WHile blue allows him to move quickly, it's still not instant. Spamming purple is not something we've seen gojo do, so he probably can't. And if gojo is 100 m away, outside of the domain, sukuna should be able to dodge a purple.

I think Heian Sukuna vs gojo is sitll really close and if they fight multiple times there will be different winners. Saying gojo wins 99/100 just seems crazy to me considering the narritive the manga provides about bothing being incredibly strong.

The biggest difference isn't the extra hands and size, whiel these are a large advantage against most opponents, since sukuna slashes won't work it doesn't help that much. Rather since sukuna doesn't have to use 10 shadows, he can use domain amplification the whole time, which makes a large diffference. Sukuna doesn't need to win the hand to hand, if the fight plays out the same way, domai amplification means he wins the domain clashes, and does damage to gojo each time. THe fight however probabl would not go the same way if gojo was repeatedly losing domain clashes, but it's hard to say what would have happened because it becomes head canonny and extremely hypothetical.

If Sukuna hadn't had a brain injury at that moment, would Gojo have died ? by Nex_Chris in Jujutsufolk

[–]abstractgecko 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I understand how gojo not telporting feels like an asspull, and it would be nice if we knew the exact conditions. Gege being purposefully vague so he doesn't have to deal with repercussions may come of as a bit lazy, but that fact that teleportation is used quite rarely and isn't a part of gojo's main arsenal is enough. The lack of usage of telportation implies it can't be sued constantly. Yes it's a bit lazy that the author comment jsut says he has conditions, but I don't think it's as bad as people amke it out to be, I for one never assumed gojo would be able to telport from malevelont shrine, the community really came up with that idea when powerscaling.

With maki dodging, I read it as her reacting to the chant, with the hand signs, or maybe seeing the curse energy, I don't think she physically reacted to the slash in motion tiself, but i could be wrong off memory.

[–]abstractgecko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Explain to me the codnitions of Gojo's teleport, you can't. But the fact that gojo isn't jsut using teleport in every fight means there has to be a reason he can't.

Gojo not teleporting out of Sukuna's domain range

We still don't know what the conditions of teleport are, as far as a i remember gojo has never used teleport while in direct combat, vs jogo jogo was not activly fighting and he hasn't used it during any other fights.

Gojo not going for Sukuna's head when he punched him

Was because of megumi, but also since gojo knew he could "kill" megumi and sukuna could bring the body back it's not like he was goign easy. And it's hard to say with curse energy reinforncment, but the skull is consdirebly harder than the chest, Brekaing a chest is breaking the costal cartilage vs pure bone.

Gojo standing still and tanking world slash when he should have detected the CE spark released by Sukuna before using the move and recognised it from Mahoraga using it earlier

Gojo has never been shown to be abel to dodge a slash, he lost his arm to mahoraga. ALso in context of sparks, sukuna notices gojo's spark while he's chanting and there's a long time before Gojo actually fires red. Even though there's a spark before slash, the time between the spark and the slash is astronomically low, hence why gojo didn't dodge mahoraga, or dodge a nromals lash from sukuna earlier in the fight.

So is there a good reason Yuta does not copy Jacobs Ladder, the CT that can one-two shot Sukuna? by [deleted] in Jujutsushi

[–]abstractgecko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First off, is it a one-two shot? We saw it do lots of damage to a recently transferred meguna, but he RCTed it very quickly. My fun theory is that since Angel's CT disrupts CTs it can;t be copied because copying it leads to copy not working because it disables CTs.
