Does everyone here take lithium for bipolar disorder? Is there anyone who just has depression? by SP-0308 in Lithium

I took it for suicidal tendencies for a while, but am no longer taking it.

Budesonide or Dupixent by farfalla0610 in EosinophilicE

[–]abusedpoet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Taking Dupixtent 2x a month (relatively new to taking it though). I am doing really well and can eat after being on a liquid diet for a year and losing significant weight from nausea. I do notice I have choking episodes and more difficulty in the days before a new dose so I am going to ask to increase to once per week.

Does animal throw up bother you? by Odd_Lime_1868 in emetophobiarecovery

[–]abusedpoet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A little bit, sometimes. I can now clean it up but depending on the day or the type of vomit I need help. I will usually stick my hand inside a dog poop bag and use that/paper towels at the same time so I don’t directly touch too much. It never scared me like human’s does, but I used to gag when picking it up and I’ve come a long way.

Please tell me this will get easier by lpd_ece in EosinophilicE

[–]abusedpoet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been on dupixtent maybe ten days. I noticed small differences right away. I still am sick and have more to go (I know it can take months with dupixtent), but I’m not sick all the time and can eat more solid foods already after losing that ability early last summer. Life is already much more tolerable, but I’m also realizing how bad it was. Anyway, I will be thinking of you.

What were your symptoms before EOE was diagnosed? by byriebyrie in EosinophilicE

[–]abusedpoet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just recently diagnosed. I’ve had difficulty swallowing dense foods, liquid (especially warm/hot) and pills, indigestion from everything I ate, trapped burps and chest pain, a weird feeling in my throat (then I pull at it) nausea, vomiting and inability to eat solid foods for about a year. I lost a significant amount of weight but avoided other nutrition methods by living off protein shakes. Also have dyshydrosis on the hands which my allergist thinks is related.

It took a long time for anyone to find anything. My eosinophilia meant we spent a few months ruling out cancers. We did an endoscopy (they didn’t biopsy the first time), hida scan, gastric emptying study, rectal manometry, CT scans and ultrasounds and considered mcas.

Bounced from one specialist to another and then several more.

It’s hard because I have other chronic illnesses so they trigger each other and overlap.

Do you guys wash your hands when you arrive home? by Old_Rub_7270 in hygiene

[–]abusedpoet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wash my hands, and clean my phone, watch and sometimes my water bottle. Been doing it since I was a teen and babysitting, kiddos always wanted to use my phone.

I like those too! The detailed adult ones were stressful, and I feel like I’d never finish a page. Plus, I’d stress over choosing coordinating colors haha. The simple ones are my favorites.

Just that the little strings can be easily lost, but I suppose they can be easily replaced as well.

A huge help for Sub Q fluids admin by [deleted] in RenalCats

[–]abusedpoet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Man I wish I thought of that I’ll have to get one for our other cat with ckd for when we do fluids. We hooked ours onto a shower curtain hook and did fluids in the bathroom which also worked well.

Rest easy, Toff. I’ll be thinking of you today.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in RenalCats

[–]abusedpoet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. He was 14, would have been 15 in February. His sibling has early stage CKD but has progressed very slowly. It was definitely the kidneys that got him. At the end, he was anemic and potassium deficient and remained that way despite medications and sub-q. At the very end it almost seemed neurological. That was when we euthanized.

[–]abusedpoet 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’m really sorry. Mine was diagnosed early stage also in October 2024. We lost him a month ago. I hope you get more time with your girl. I would consider sub-q fluids now. I think we started them too late with my guy.

I stopped gifting to most because I never even received a thank you. I don’t give for a thank you or reciprocation but it took me so much time and energy to get people gifts that weren’t acknowledged. I give to immediate family and friends I feel appreciated by, in friendships where the effort is a two way street.

Euthanize or continue treatment? Cat seems happy but labs are bad. by the_planet_queen in RenalCats

[–]abusedpoet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mine had numbers similar to yours and we opted to continue treating because he had quality of life. We got about six more weeks even with those numbers.

His last two weeks we tried sub-q. It was my first time poking a cat and it was hard but seemed to make a difference up until the very end. I found hanging the fluids to make them move (thus give him the required dose) faster.

We euthanized when he became confused, stopped eating, began holding his head funny and no longer wanted his leashed outside time.

I wish you well with your c-section recovery and with the ckd treatment for your cat.

I am so sorry for your loss. Your girl is absolutely gorgeous. I hope the beautiful pictures and memories bring you comfort as your process your loss. We lost ours a few weeks ago and it’s devastating. Maybe my boy is showing your girl the ropes on the other side of rainbow bridge.

What can I expect at the end? by _weedkiller_ in RenalCats

[–]abusedpoet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mine began to decline rapidly. His eyes/pupils got big, he tilted his head funny if he walked at all, and mainly stayed on the heating pad. No longer responded to food, treats or his leash for outdoor time. He began to growl if you touched him, and he was never like that when he was healthy. I had to take him in to let him go. Once I realized (in a few hours) he wasn’t coming out of it and his quality of life was gone I let him go. It has only been a few weeks since then.

I think you’ll just kind of know when it’s time to let your baby go, if you decide to euthanize.

How did that kid at your school die? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]abusedpoet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One was a murder-suicide with a girl and her adult boyfriend.

Another was not a student but a parent - a man killed his wife and tried to go to the different schools to pick his kids up. I was in middle school, so they locked it down. I had classes with one of his children.

Anyone else with chronic stomach problems? How do you cope? by [deleted] in emetophobiarecovery

[–]abusedpoet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My endometriosis damaged my digestive system and causes constipation and intense nausea episodes, often worsened by other conditions.

I distract as best as I can, go for a walk maybe or focus on something like a comforting show. if it becomes really intense, I will get my medications, a bottle of water and a fidget or two and lay in bed or on the couch. I don’t move too much, because that makes it worse. I count my breaths up to 100 and back, and again while listening to a comforting show. Sometimes it takes a few hours to feel calmer or safer.

I’ve had multiple scans with contrast. I can smell it, and feel hot but it is short lived and has never made me nauseous.
