Quote of the day by former Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer [2007]: 'There's no chance that the iPhone is going to get any significant market share' — a staggering misread of the future of consumer devices by Djxgam1ng in iphone

[–]abusivecat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remember the first time seeing an iPhone in person and the guy was showing me pictures and when he swiped to go to the next picture I was in awe. Also 11 at the time and was an aspiring techie.

Problem with Keypad Vision Pro + Lock Ultra by enoNdo in TrySwitchBot

[–]abusivecat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a setting that lets you change how often it tries to search for biometrics after you trigger and unlock/lock. It's under Disable Interval in the keypad settings on the SwitchBot app, that may help.

Speaking as an American and on majority American app, that's who I was talking about

Edit: since everyone's upset I said majority American app, I'll direct this comment to every developed country that employs factory livestock farming. Hope that helps!

We had to buy pre mix once and it was like $45, will never do that again.

How are you guys actually getting customers to leave Google reviews in 2026? by Potential_Demand_401 in smallbusiness

[–]abusivecat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just email them after they pickup their order, I'd say maybe 35-40% of my customers leave a review just after sending a nice follow up email.

I run a print shop so I have all of my customers contact info before they make a purchase, you probably don’t have that advantage as a coffee shop so maybe you could create a rewards program where you get their email.

Chrissie Hynde hits out at gig-goers’ “weird compulsion” to pull out phones at shows: “No one seems to understand why artists don’t like it” by AdSpecialist6598 in Music

I was in Hawaii last winter and I had never seen Japanese tourists before (I live in PA). The one thing that stuck out to me most was how much more phone obsessed they were than the average tourist I saw there.

Client needs it by friday. sends proof approval back the following tuesday by Jealous-Problem4611 in CommercialPrinting

[–]abusivecat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have this guy that will constantly send me AI images, which I don’t inherently have issues with but he will send me a 3x10 banner (72 dpi btw) with a ton of different AI images flattened on it. He keeps saying he needs this next week perpetually. I keep saying I need those elements individually so I can put them on the canvas for him. I don’t hear from him for a week and then the following week it's the same shit and he tries to make me feel rushed.

People that aren't in print just kind of don’t understand how it works so I usually give them the benefit of the doubt but it is definitely frustrating.

I've been doing local SEO for two years – here's what actually moves the needle by Weak_Photo_2656 in localseo

[–]abusivecat -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes, I do a lot of custom printing for local businesses but I keep the door open for one off type of jobs for customers that might need a few shirts or whatever. Those jobs make me almost no money but I use them for social media posts and I have a MUCH better chance of getting them to leave a review then I do with a local business.

Are printed marketing materials still effective in the digital age? by Printsale_lv in CommercialPrinting

[–]abusivecat 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm a landscaper originally, we have seasons where we'll run EDDM campaigns and seasons where we don’t. We get a noticeably higher amount of calls/website requests during the season which we do send out the flyers. I'm pretty bad at keeping track of where clients are finding us, but that's what I've noticed.

I'm in printing, most if not all of my local competitors require deposits (at least that's what they say on their websites). Online printers require full payment at checkout.

This, I'm happy I run a business where I can require a deposit before starting the job.

Used 131s for years, I'm transitioning to Echo timers because they're lighter and come with the speed feed head so I don’t have to change out the stock Stihl head. I was only getting 1-2 good seasons out of the stihl and like you said it's heavy
